For those that check this, it is time for an update. I have been pretty numb since Grandma passed away and have just not had lots to say.
The trip to Alabama for the funeral was hectic. Maybe that was a good thing since there was not lots of time to think about things. Janine and I decided that we would just take one vehicle to save money and make things a bit less stressful. And since she has a new SUV, there was plenty of room for us and the kids to have a comfortable ride. She drove up to Commerce and picked me up at 10pm on Thursday the 5th. We drove all night. Robert was driving down from Tennessee on Friday morning. At 7am, just outside of Baton Rouge, Robert called us to say that his car died in Birmingham. And he was stuck, because it truly died (threw a rod). We could not get hold of anyone that could drive the 4 hours from Bay Minette to Birmingham to pick him up. So, we flew threw Bay Minette to make the funeral arrangements, quickly went and checked into the motel (just checked in, didn't actually go to the rooms), and hit the road for Birmingham. As if things were not stressful enough, we decided that a tropical storm must have moved on shore without us knowing about it, because we were in torrential rainstorms most of Friday. We were later told that Bay Minette had received 8 inches of rain on Friday. And I don't doubt it since the main road from the interstate into town was flooded when we got back from Birmingham. So we made it to Birmingham and back. We actually went into our motel rooms for the first time at 1030pm on Friday night.......over 24 hours after we left Commerce.
The visitation and funeral were both on Saturday. Again, we were moving around so fast that there was not time to think about much. Again, a good thing on an extremely stressful day.
After it was all over, we met my step brother Chad and his wife and daughter at my favorite restaurant...Cock Of The Walk. And for those that don't know, don't get perverted thoughts....it is a WONDERFUL catfish place....lol. After that, we went and visited my step sister Jennifer and her son and boy friend at their new house. It was WAY out in the sticks. I am sure if it would have been daylight, the sunlight would have had to have been pumped in. After all of that, we did not get back to the motel until around 11pm.....another VERY long day.
We came back home on Sunday. Robert actually came back with us to stay with Janine and the kids for a couple of weeks. He was going to do that in July anyway. But with the situation with his car, it was just decided that then would be the best time. He actually only ended up staying a little over a week. I ended up driving him to his Aunt Angela's house in central Tennessee on my days off this past week. Brett decided to ride along, so we all hit the road at about 1030pm this past Monday. We got to Angela's at 830am on Tuesday. I drank a cup of coffee and was back on the road within 30 minutes. Now, mind you, I had slept on Monday morning from about 7am to 11am. I am riding along through Arkansas (in another "tropical storm like" rain event) when at 330pm on Tuesday, a loud boom was heard and the immediate feel of a deflated tire flapping underneath the car was felt. Yep....I had a blowout in the middle of no where Arkansas...in a typhoon. I guess the only good thing about that was that sound and changing the tire in a rainstorm certainly woke me up. I put the spare on and limped the car about 20 miles to some form of civilization to get another tire. So, after all that, and still having to take Brett home, I actually opened my apartment door at 1030pm on Tuesday.....another 24 hours in a car (except actually driving this time).
Hopefully things will start getting back to normal now. Wait, maybe they will get better than normal....because my normal life has SUCKED for quite some time now. But you all knew that already.
And since some of you demand to know all the sordid details about my life, here are some of the standard yes or no questions that I have not publicly answered lately. No, I am not dating anyone. No, there is no one on the horizon that I want to date. Yes, Tammie filed the divorce last week.
