Well folks, I have encountered myself with a dilemma. I need opinions, advice, suggestions, all that jazz. Tell me what you think.
The dilemma is this:
This summer, I think I want to do four month staff. This will be the ONLY summer I could do it, because of school. (I'll have to go to summer session next year and the year after because some of the courses I'm taking are only offered in the summer.) I mean, camp is not without its failings. I had a hell of a hard time surviving ONE month when I went last time. And at the end of it, I kind of really never wanted to go back again. But then I went to Work Weekend, and it was fun. So that, in itself, would be challenge enough to decide to even APPLY for four month staff, let alone actually go.
Four month staff goes from May-August, hence four months. And now, to add to the dilemma, there is this little scenario:
Hellscouts doesn't finish until June. Granted, I am having almost exactly zero fun doing hellscouts this year. But I would still feel horrible if I abandoned them in May. I'm the only leader, there's not anyone else who can just magically take my place. So they'd be missing out on 2 months of Scouting activities. To add to that, they're the two busiest months in Scouting.
No matter what I do, I definitely want to go to family camp. The Scout version. They're planning it this year, and I need to be there since "they" actually means "me," since they're actually totally useless. I CAN skip out on camp for a weekend to go to camp, especially if we camp close to camp. There are way too many camps in that sentence, but it makes sense to me.
I need help, guys. PLEASE tell me what YOU think I should do.
To add difficulty to your decision, just saying "Do whatever you think is best" will really not help me at all. They both have disadvantages and advantages, and it just so happens that both options hold their disadvantages on almost equal footing.
