I don't know why I thought fan fic had to be long or complicated or official somehow, but now that I have my own place to put things, I feel the desire to extract more of what floats around in my brain and put pen to paper. Or, as is usually the case, fingers to keyboard. I thoroughly enjoy thinking about them, and it's great to be writing again. (I just need to not think about them when I'm getting ready in the morning because it makes me late.) It doesn't matter if nobody likes them or nobody cares because they make me smile. So in the spirit of random things, here's something fun for
soaked_in_stars that I wrote this morning:
Title: Wicked Little High
Subject: Andy/Toby
Rating: PG-13
Timeframe: around Undecideds
Author's Note: title borrowed from the fabulous Bird York
Toby opened the door for Andy and the kids, and the twins ran in with only a quick hello. Even at their age, they were used to this exchange and knew the drill. Toby stepped back to let Andy in as she set down a bag containing a few cherished toys that always trotted back and forth. As he informed her of the plans for the day and what time she could pick them up, she “ok”ed and “uh huh”ed everything, all the while slowly moving closer to him until her body was pressed up against his, her hand lingering on his thigh. He mustered only an “Andrea.”
With a mischievous smile, she replied, “I brought pie,” and then whispered in his ear, “I thought we could share a piece.”
Only his eyes smiled. “Well you know how much I enjoy pie.” It took all his strength to not pull her into the bedroom. “But, the kids.” He motioned to where Huck and Molly were claiming toys from the stash in the corner. “Can I take a rain check on that?”
Andy turned abruptly to say goodbye to her children before pulling a container of pie from the bag and placing it on the counter. Tapping her fingers on the lid, she said, “You can count on it,” before vanishing out the door, leaving Toby in a stunned momentary silence.
His silence was interrupted by Huck. “Dad, dad, watch this!”
“In a minute, son. Dad’s gonna need a minute.”
