I mean, I get that it's about not hurting animals (at least, I think I do; I don't know any vegetarians so I can't be sure I fully understand what it's about), but it's the way of the natural world to feed on other animals. Wanton and wasteful slaughter I don't agree with, but to swear off meat entirely, even though we've clearly evolved to be at least partly meat-eaters? It just ... doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
That said, I eat fruit and vegetables about as much as I do meat.
