Whelp, LJ has dun messed up good. I don't think I'd notice or care so much if I weren't so much in the roleplay scene, because I wouldn't have even heard details. As it is I think I could cope, even though the fact it's bandwidth heavy is bad because it'll eat my phone data like woah (I'm relying on my phone wifi for Internet nowadays) and I'm going to miss preview and subject headings (though apparently they're bringing those back?).
But the fact is that several of my roleplay friends have, literally, gotten sick because of the new layout, to say nothing of how the lack of subject headings has been messing with others who relied on them for trigger warnings. I use LJ because it's convenient but mostly because all my friends are here; given LJ's conduct lately, if my friends moved elsewhere, I'd go with them. Probably to Dreamwidth, because it's run by people who are familiar with and, more importantly, supportive of, fandoms.
Even better though? I found out that DW's character limit for entries is 300k. LJ's is only 60k. I can actually post my fics there and not have to worry about splitting up my chapters.
Whether or not I move for roleplay purposes is still up in the air, but I am definitely going to start archiving my fics there. So if any of my non-roleplay friends (or my roleplay friends, even) would like to stalk me, my new profile can be found here, under the completely unsurprising moniker of purple_drake.
Now maybe this will encourage me to rewrite some of those early fics I've been meaning to rewrite ... or get some others written that haven't been.
