I assume we've all heard about the ridiculous amounts of sugar in most mass produced drinks. But for me, at least, thinking of it all in grams wasn't something I could relate to. I *can* relate to sugar cubes, though. One sugar cube is about 4.17g of sugar. (
ref) It's a tangible amount, and I know I use 1 or 2 in a cup or tea, giving roughly 5-9g of sugar per cup.
For comparison, a can of Pepsi is about 17 sugar cubes (71g).
I'm not sure I could even dissolve 17 sugar cubes in a 12 ounce glass of water.
Maybe some afternoon I'll skip my usual can of soda and just have a big glass of water and an equivalent stack of sugar cubes to snack on. It's no worse for me, and it'll probably help me relate even better.
