Ben prompts?

Okay, so this might seem totally random, but...Ben prompts? I have all this stuff I want to say about Dean and Ben and their can we maybe not call it a father/son relation ship? but I have no idea what context to say them in. I seriously have an open doc full of observations and thoughts and little scenes but I need a reason for them to happen *

Oh, that would be so interesting. Hey Ben, look, there's this guy you met once a couple of years ago. He's a depressed alcoholic with more issues than you can count, but hey, he's gonna live with us now. Aren't you excited? :)

Unfortunately, it's not at all what I need right now, because all my little Dean-thinking scenes would probably need to be set at least a couple of months after he moved in. :/

I'm guessing Lisa catches Dean saying something inappropriate around Ben and then makes him do it as punishment and for the lolz. (she'd have a bowl of popcorn and would be naming the colors of red they both turn)

Maybe something about Ben wanting to be a hunter and Dean freaking out about that? Especially if Ben tries to sneak off to do his own hunt and Dean has to go track him down. :D

Or Ben seeing Sam on the news and remembering Sam but then not knowing how he does, since there's a giant Dean shaped hole in his memories?

No, I did too. It's just that I really like the idea of Dean desperately trying not to be the John of that relationship, so I always picture him going out of his way to look at Ben as anything other than his kid.

Oooh! I've been wanting to do post S6 Ben and Lisa fic. Because they have to remember something.

See I think the exact opposite. I think that Dean acknowledges the failures and the successes of his father and has learned from them. I think he wants Ben to be his kid and even if it isn't biological (which I personally don't believe) and that he would go to the ends of the earth to Ben's Dad. I think his attempt at having Ben and Lisa "forget" is a misplaced idea that it will protect them.

But they shouldn't forget and in SPN anything can happen - so maybe Ben does catch sight of Sam somewhere and that jars his memories about Dean. From there it's a hop, skip and a jump to the flood gates opening and Ben hunting Dean down. And demanding to be a hunter. The ensuing battle of wills could be impressive.

I see where you're coming from, but sorry, I just don't buy it. S6 is packed with Dean saying he doesn't want to be like John and Sam (admittedly, soulless at the time) wondering how Dean could ever have a family without turning into their dad. Plus, I see Dean as a very black and white person, se either John was awesome and a superhero and he wants to be exactly like him in every aspect of his life or he was horrible and he can't be like him at all. Still, I suppose that wouldn't stop him from wanting Ben as his kid and yes, the memory wipe fiasco is totally his screwed up idea of protecting his family.

You do it! I can't write another epic right now, but I'd read the hell out of teen!Ben trying to be a hunter!
