Stuff happened
Well, I try not to post much drama here. At the same time, I don't like to omit anything significant.
So...
On Monday, my job went away; I was told that "your role doesn't fit" and "today was your last day", corporate-speak for "you're fired and we're not explaining the details". The new manager - whom I had only met once before - was in the room w/ my manager and I, watching silently.
It was odd... I had had a 1-on-1 meeting w/ her recently and she said that everything was going well.
When I had my exit interview w/ the head of HR, she was as perplexed as I; she told me that she had to honour my manager's decision, but couldn't understand why it was never mentioned to her until that morning.
Also, I had just had a good performance review, so WTF?...
Anyway, I'm suddenly unemployed after 3 1/2 years w/ that company, and am currently taking some time to reflect on my options before starting the job search.
On a lighter note:
Never having to use the phrase "actionable business intelligence" again... priceless.
