Real life has finally eased up a little. Now that the big race is out of the way (finished, done, no more of that for a while), I'm feeling more fannish. The most recent focus of my fannish fascination is the BBC cop show Lewis, or Inspector Lewis, as PBS is calling it. It's a spin-off of Inspector Morse, a show I really liked as a teenager. Lewis is just as good or better, imo. Like Morse, the show is set in Oxford, and the gorgeous setting is basically another character.
I adore Lewis. He's a little sad and rumpled and sharp as a tack, and the ivory tower Oxford types he encounters perpetually underestimate him.
And I finally understand the concept of platonic OTP, because Lewis and his "dishy" sergeant Hathaway (who channels Morse's hyper-educated snobbery) have become mine. Now I'm craving fanfiction that reads like an episode of the show, with a focus on the amazing chemistry between Lewis and Hathaway. I wouldn't say no to low-key slash, though. Anyone else out there like this show? Bueller?
