Cookery

Ever since acquiring the fantastic cookbook by Nigella Lawson, I have been cooking up a storm, drawing up a weekly menu of delicious dinners of exotic materials I've never before cooked with: lamb chops, salmon, pork. Ha.   Cooking has of all things become NORMAL.  I just do it.  :)  Very pleased.  A very nice side effect of the very slow market.

Don't know why I didn't record them before?  They're fun to think about.

Today's dinner:

Coq au Riesling.  I lurve french food, even fake french food. I'm sure an actual french foodie would find it appalling that this could be cooked up in about an hour.

I wish I had a white french style soup toureen to present it in, but I do not.  It takes a whole bottle of Riesling to make this.  It's beyond delicious and tastes rather authentic, for which I did the dancey dance around the kitchen.

And for breakfast tomorrow:  Muffins!  Banana with butterscotch kisses.

I love cooking not only because I like eating, but more actually because I get to make a horrible mess:

I didn't take a photo for fear of gumming up my camera's works, but the best thing about the banana muffin is that you have to hand smoosh the bananas, and then further smoosh that into the dough.  It takes me right back to those blissful days in LA when my sister and brother and I made food with playdough.  It's even better though because I will actually eat the results. :)  Oh, happy.
