not so fun-filled weekend

This weekend was rather disappointing.

Homosassa Springs was very sweet and we got to see some animals (including manatees at feeding time) but it didn't take up too much time. Then we ate at a little restaurant called "The Mad Italian" that sounded cool but was, in reality, horrible. It looked like an old bar with a fishing theme and loud country music that just decided to serve Italian food, but didn't know how, so it just popped some stuff into the microwave. It was just awful. I can see how they got the name: it would make Italians very mad.

The hotel's free continental breakfast was pretty much gone by 9am (although it was supposed to last until 10:30), so we went to Hardee's and then took off for Weeki Wachee. My mom paid $20/person for us to get in the park and then we saw that they had basically let everything run down and were only focusing on the water park next door. There were exactly four things to do in the actual Weeki Wachee Park: go on a 20 minute "river tour," watch a 15 minute "misunderstood animals" show (tarantula, toad, snake), participate in an "animal walkaround" (although there were really no animals left at the park besides three peacocks), and watch the underwater mermaid show. However, there were only two mermaid shows the whole day, one of which started before we got there. By the time we finished everything else, there were still two hours to wait for the next show. We just couldn't handle two hours of complete boredom. It totally sucked. My mom asked for her money back but they refused, so we just left. It was such a ripoff and so sad to see what was once a huge Florida attraction now in such ruins.

On our way back, we stopped at a Super Wal-Mart but left empty-handed because it was exactly like our Wal-Mart at home (usually they have different stuff). The only non-disappointing thing today was the restaurant we ate at when we got back (Pomodoro). We needed some decent Italian after yesterday and my mom liked the restaurant, so we knew it was safe.

What a weekend. :(
