Being called Mr. Mustang was possibly more awkward than if she had used his first name, but he had no right to complain about it now that he was no longer a Colonel, and he didn't want to step on her limit of comfort with him ( ... )

Sooner or later, she'd call him Roy, but for now it was Mr Mustang.

If Roy had stood there like a gaping idiot, it would have made her feel all the more awkward. More so that offering the invite to him had been. The fact that she was slightly stiff in her posture betrayed her unease at being in a dress, but years of training helped hide it. The fact that Roy himself looked good wasn't lost on her either. She smiled a little; He'd changed a lot from the boy her father had taken in as an apprentice. From cute to handsome. And just for the night, he was hers.

"Shall we?" she managed to hide her awkwardness with a smile, and offered her hand to him. "Thank you for agreeing to this."

He held out his arm in a proper escorting posture for her to put her hand on, and led her out of the apartment. The trip to Stockings and Lace wasn't a short one, but it wasn't exactly uncomfortable for him either. He made sure to engage in pleasant small talk with her, mostly work related cause that's the one thing they both had in common right now that they were both completely comfortable with, and by the time they got there he was quite used to how beautiful she looked and fully capable of looking at her without staring in awe.

Staring at the sign above the door, Roy took a deep breath. This was going to test both of them, but because they were both aware of the situation he was sure they could come out of this night without becoming too awkward.

"Are you ready?"

Riza let him lead the way, answering his questions and asking her own. Work related helped to settle her nerves and relax her a bit more. It was easy to fall into the old habit, even with her arm around Roy's. It felt natural. And the walk gave her time to both get used to the way the dress moved around her {too flowing and open and just. It was a dress} and to how handsome Roy was.

"Yes." It was now or never and if she backed out now, she wouldn't be able to live with herself. On the other hand, going into a place like this was - it was going to be uncomfortable for her whatever way she looked at it. At least she had Roy with her.

He smiled, which was often his defense against any other emotions he was feeling, and moved to hold open the door.

"I'm sure the night will turn out splendid for the both of us," he said with a note of confidence that he wasn't quite sure he felt. "After you~"

"Of course." Riza nodded, and stepped inside. All the nervousness she felt came back triple-fold, and she tensed a little. The place was racy with several women in varying states of undress. At least the patrons didn't look that bad, though some of the dresses.. she looked away. She would not stare, not give off any hint that she was uncomfortable with this evening. The music didn't help, but, again, she bore it well. She'd not been able to get out of it, and while she knew it'd be racy.., this was not what she'd had in mind. Then again, society on a whole seemed to much different from home. She shoved it away. She would endure this. Perhaps it might not turn out so bad. Maybe.

She found what passed for the greeting area and showed the prize, doing her best to ignore the topless brunette that lead them to their table. All she could was hope that Roy kept his eyes on her and not these scarlet women.

For the first several seconds it was nearly impossible for him to not stare, the surprise at seeing women dressed like this catching him hard. There were similar women in Amestris, but none of them dressed to this extent of exposure.

He looked down at his feet and took a few seconds to battle with his discomfort, knowing that for Riza it had to be worse. So he shouldered it with as much control as he could muster and stuck close to his partner's side, smiling easily.

When they arrived at their table, he held out Riza's chair for her, and then sat down himself, watching her face. "It's not terrible," he said with a false cheer, the strain only evident to people who knew him really well. Which at the moment was only the woman sitting across from him.

"Thank you." She murmured as she sat down, watching Roy,. It was something to keep her mind off the other things, and not how wrong this all was.

"Of course not. Merely different." She could tell he was under strain as was she. She did offer a smile though, but it didn't reach her eyes, She was only all to awe of how some the women looked, and how good looking some of them were as well. The men she could ignore easy. "I doubt it will this awful all night."

If only she knew.
