Francis first made his way to the front desk, being every so polite to the dear woman who owned the hostel. The first thing he did was ask the lovely Mrs. Newton for a room with less people in it; he only knew a few people here, and since he had just arrived he didn't want to become too overwhelmed. Telling Mrs. Newton a little white lie wouldn't hurt, and it would cause him to be one step closer to his target. Either way, J had mentioned he was a lieutenant, and from Francis' experience with war that meant he was a loner type; this was accentuated by the fact that J had only mentioned his little brother. If he had closer friends he probably would have mentioned them as well.
The second thing he asked, after suddenly "remembering" that someone he knew was living here, was whether Mrs. Newton knew if J was still in the building. The answer he was given was vague, but she had not seen J leave, so it was safe to assume that he was still somewhere around the building. He graciously thanked her and made his way to one of the rooms she mentioned, claiming one of the open lockers for his things. He placed his bag with the pamphlets and spare clothes inside the locker, closing it and taking the key with him. Placing it gently in his pants pocket, Francis then made his way around the quieter areas that Mrs. Newton had been quite kind enough to point out previously. He was quite cunning are using his charms to find out just the right pieces of information he needed. Hopefully these would lead him to his new friend J - J was far, far too fascinating not to play with some more.
Besides, he'd been offered a fun challenge, and there was no way he could or would refuse.
Liquid Snake, or 'J' as Bonnefoy had called him, was not the type of man that was easy to find when he didn't want to be seen.
If Bonnefoy asked the right people, perhaps someone would tell him there was no easy way to the roof. Liquid himself had climbed from a high window. But perhaps someone would point him to the window in question, or tell him about the derelict fire escape that might also allow him access to that most isolated of spaces.
If they did, then he might be led to Liquid, who was currently staring at the sky and pondering.
He pondered a lot of things lately.
He pondered whether or not he should trust Big Boss, whether it was wise to keep Kadaj close when the kid was so much trouble, whether it was even worth trying when he was entirely unnecessary here. He pondered over the situation and how bad things were getting and whether they'd be able to survive like this.
Liquid was somewhat damaged, it had to be admitted. All of the stress was only pressing on those cracks in his psyche more. Perhaps that was why he ended up lying on the roof and staring up at the sky for what felt like only moments but was likely longer. It eased his mind somewhat.
