RIGHT, SO. I think...that list of yours there handles the main things I could think of.
As for layouts. I always imagined something similar to that first map that was made way back when that I always lose access to. Junkyard in the southwest corner, fountain to the south of the clock tower. River to the north of the clock tower, and to the north of the river, stuff like the forest and the church.
The church, on a sidenote, though of course still run down, has been lovingly slightly patched up and cleaned up by Allelujah over the past two years :) It's nowhere near perfect but it's not an abandoned wasteland in there.
As for the upper level. We never really got a solid layout of it before, so honestly I have no idea what I think of it as. I imagine a row of shops at some point, sort of a shopping center of sorts. Residential area...kind of more of a traditional town layout moreso than the lower level is. Still pretty dismal, though, but at least nicer.
And a park. Has to have a park. >_>
As for travel, hmm. I mean, it's always been mentioned that there's some sort of stairs, but like... How high is the ceiling, so to speak, of the lower level? Are we talking Midgar here, where there'd be stairs like the one we run up to by Sector 7 to go fight Reno? Or... Yeah, I have no idea.
