Gods: I agree with Vista. In addition, we really only have a single god that is toying (in his own way) with the characters themselves. It would be marvelous to see another god, or perhaps even some purg-specific characters that exist solely for ensuring the despair and unhappiness of those here in Purgatorium. (As a twist, we could recruit certain people anonymously to play some of the purg-specific demigods(?) that roam around and toy with the characters in horrid ways; if that makes sense).
Despair: Once more, Vista has a very good point and it's one that i've felt I agreed with for a long time. Purgatorium itself is meant to be a place of despair and terror. Right now it seems that each and every character seems to have their own sense of complacency with how things are and they are far too comfortable and even commenting that things are boring. I have an issue with that. I believe that each and every day, even for those on the upper level and ESPECIALLY for those on the lower level that things should never be easy or boring. Maybe i'm just rambling on this one. But it seems like the only ways to add despair to a character's life is to choose to do so yourself. It's almost too easy to just skip all bad things and accept only good things. Which brings me to my next concern.
Events: Optional? No. Mandatory. It is my opinion that there should be more Mandatory events for Purgatorium. I have a huge problem with characters "playing it safe" and avoiding certain events to avoid bad things occurring. Events like a ball can easily be optional, because of the nature of the event. Bigger events that affect Purgatorium itself should not be optional. At the very least, some kind of reaction or explanation about what the character does at the time would be ideal. ie: Huge monster rages out of the woods and crashes towards the clock tower, then starts tearing up the buildings. Character A) "Oh, I ignore it." <- WHAT. Better: Character A) "I'm going to go hide in the woods!" or "I'm going to gather up friends and we'll kill it!" <- Better!
Logs: Vista is right. We don't have enough emphasis on this and i'd love to see so very much more of it. Even if it is three-sentence back and forth... It's a good thing to have. I hadn't thought about it before now, but i'd love to see more.
Organization: We need a centralized location (ie: Table of Contents) that clearly lists and labels all Purgatorium-related resources. If necessary or possible, some existing resources could be merged or relocated in order to make all documents and resources more easily accessible. (I've mentioned this, but this is just so it's in LJ format)
...My brain can't think of anything else right now. Further posts pending, maybe.
