So, it had not been as terrifying as he thought, but Izuru was still glad he had not been in the room when Rangiku had found her present. He was never very good at situations like that, and Rangiku's exuberance could sometimes be intimidating for someone as soft-spoken as he was. Still, he was happy that in the end the Gods had given him the gift to give to her, and that her birthday even in a place like this would not be a totally a bad experience.
The front door creaked, hinges barely holding the thing together. The building was falling apart and drafty in most places, but Rangiku had found the most inhabitable rooms to live in. Being careful to avoid the cracking of the floorboards as best as he could, Izuru made his way to Rangiku's room, a bundle in his hands. Finding food in this place was rare, but if you took the time as he did - ignoring the fact that he was just finding an excuse to be out of the place when Ran woke up - you could get lucky.
He knocked carefully on the door of her room, opening it slightly to peek in.
"Matsumoto-san...?"
