Summary: Oh, Sora. He's somehow already managed to get himself into trouble, and he's just arrived. HE JUST WANTS TO FIND HIS BFF, MAN. CUT HIM SOME SLACK.

Sora was beginning to think that he was seriously cursed.

And maybe it was kind of his fault, for getting his hopes up the very second he discovered that Riku was in the city, but. That was all he wanted to do, too. All he needed to do was to find Riku, was to get Riku to explain what was happening, what was going on, and then they could figure everything else out together. They could figure out how to escape, how to find Donald and Goofy, how to find Kairi. They could fix everything, and Sora could see for himself that Riku was fine, that was still Riku, that nothing was wrong, and.

He had to find him.

He knelt slowly, and his hand dragged through the cold dirt beneath him as he let it sift through the spaces between his fingers. It was as frozen, as hapless, as he'd expected it to be -- it wasn't anything like the sandy beaches back home, and there was something about it, something about the way it clung to the lines in his glove when he pulled away, that had his stomach twisting uncomfortably. Home. He missed it a lot. He was missing a lot of things lately, it seemed, and Sora wasn't sure how all of this had even happened, wasn't even clear on the name of the city that he now found himself in.

Whatever it was -- wherever it was -- it was unlike anything he'd ever seen before, and unlike all the rest of his other adventures, unlike every other situation he'd been shoved into, there was something indefinably different about this one. The air, it was laced with ice and strands of heady darkness that draped itself over him, that polluted his lungs and poisoned every breath he took. He didn't like it.

His feet scuffled over the ground as he straightened and took a quick glance around. Whoever that kid had been (Roxas... that was his name, wasn't it? Or, well, that was the name he'd given to that other guy, but -- ), Sora wasn't exactly sure if he'd been serious about anything that he'd been saying to him. Part of him figured that he couldn't have been lying, because why would he lie about stuff like that, anyway, and the way he'd sounded -- he'd been upset, hadn't he? Upset, and angry, and Sora was sure he'd never heard someone with that amount of wrath, of shaky rage, fueling every vowel and syllable and sentence that their voice produced.

Either way, he had no weapon, had no idea where Riku was, had already been separated from Donald and Goofy, and if that kid really had the intention of fighting him, then. Well, it wasn't like Sora would have stood much of a chance.

And it figured.

He sighed.

"Riku," and it was a soft murmur, tired and beyond confused, as blue eyes flicked up toward the plated field directly above his head. "Where are you?"
