Summary: Johnny’s back!! Elena damn near sprints the entire way to go see him.
Johnny.
Elena hadn’t spoken of him much in the time since he had fallen quiet, afraid for the worst, hoping for the best. Tangled up and scared, she had worried she hadn’t been able to help him, and the last time she had seen him was when she was just as lost as he was, down in the Shinra labs, clinging to one another like drowning shipmates. For a moment, she had felt like him, had known him more deeply than she wanted to admit and put thought to, so she blocked it out instead. She wanted nothing more than to aid him, but if she was starting to doubt her own reality, her own validity of existence, then what good was she?
And then… silence. Deafening. And she had steeled herself for all the things that could have happened, probably did happen. His fears were real, and if they had caught up with him…
But, oh, then today, he came back. Spoke. And she had run to it as quickly as she could to such a notion, such a voice, a hummingbird to that sugarwater.
Johnny.
She smiled as she hurried down the streets, leaving HQ, footsteps fast down memorized paths she would never forget no matter what happened. Dangling from one hand was a bottle of bourbon, one she picked up on the way to his place, and no cups were needed or required. True friends passed the bottle and didn’t mind the spit left by lingering lips around the mouth of the crafted glass.
Bounding up broken steps, she knocked eagerly on the door, her voice light, her heart racing. Johnny. This wasn’t a good time for him to be here, what with crazy dreams and Shu’s mystery guest, but she’d warn him. Be there for him as much as she could. Do all the things a partner in crime/figment of imagination could do.
“Johnny? It’s Elena. Let me in, please.”
