Angel looked totally lost, her new-found way of communication clutched in her little arms. The girl--after stumbling on more than one piece of trash lying around--decided to take things into her own hands. And that meant flying. Her wings flinched slightly, then spread out and beat the air, pushing the girl upwards and onto a roof, the clock tower plain in sight. Angel walked over to the edge of the roof, judged the distance between the one she was on and the next one that looked to be close enough, backed up a bit, and tried to jump. She landed, stumbled, and rolled on the roof, her wing spreading and stopping her a bit so she could regain her breath. Luckily, the tower wasn't that far from her current position, so she picked herself up and scanned her arms and legs for any damage; there were a few little scrapes, but nothing too noticable or damaging. 'Not doing that again...' she thought to herself, spreading her wings again and taking off from the roof, heading in the direction of that tower ( ... )

Warren paused and glanced around, her metallic wings flaring out in mild surprise. She'd been so caught up in her personal ruminations she had let her guard down! What a joke, she mused. However, the voice didn't sound like it could be any threat, and she turned toward it to greet the small source of the question with a smile.

"Yes, that is my name," she replied, dropping to one knee. Though her sword sat at her hip, she hoped she wouldn't have to use it after yesterday's fiasco. "Angel, right? I will take you to Max. She is waiting at my house. I'm sure she'll have tea and cookies ready for us!" Warren still had a small box of cookies she hadn't eaten yet, and she hoped they were still there.

She doubted Max would eat them all anyway, he was far too giving when it concerned those sweet little baked goods he made and sold. Not that Warren felt like complaining, the attention (never mind the sweets) was delightful.

Angel jumped back in surprise also, her white little--at least, compared to Warren's they were--wings beating to keep her balanced; the motion scared her ( ... )

Warren flare wings out halfway, turning slightly away from the child. "We have a little ways to travel. Here, climb on my back. As far as the cookies go, they have little chunks of chocolate in them. They are quite good with milk." Warren frowned. "But we mustn't eat too many, as I intend on cooking dinner, and too many sweets will spoil your appetite." It had been over a century since Warren had last spoken with her mother, but those words never left the aasimar's mind.

"Indeed, I know where I'm going," she replied, and, noticing Angel's glance, decided to placate her fears. "My sword is for defense, child, as this land is not safe. Monsters and the like are plentiful in this world, and so I use my blade to protect myself and Max, if I must. I noticed you staring at it. Would you like to see it when we get to my house? Or take a look at the wooden weapons in my home?"

Angel would have stuttered that she was old enough to fly herself, but she wouldn't deny the kindness that the lady was giving her. "Chocolate~" she murred beneath her breath, climbing onto the lady's back and latching on by gripping the shirt, laptop secured. She was very light for her age, and the laptop was making the weight that even though annoying for it's owner was hopefully comfortable for the older woman ( ... )

Warren's wings functioned somewhat differently than Angel's or Max's she felt. The wings were sharper, more designed like a predator's wings. "Hang on," she said, running down the path. Eventually, she picked up enough speed and fanned out her wings, the lift raising them into the air with with a lurch. "Max has been teaching me how to use my wings, they're new," she said with an apologetic chuckle.

Riding high on a thermal, Warren didn't really flap her wings at all, preferring to coast and glide, letting her momentum carry her toward her house. "Well be there soon at this rate," she commented calmly, musing to herself. "Wooden weapons, yes. My sword is a powerful magic item, but people need methods to defend themselves. My wooden weapons are powerful and treated to be as strong as a mundane steel weapon. Max used to have this sword for a while, but it is mine again."

Angel ducked her head and tightened her grip on the cloth as she ran, then squeaked and latched onto Warren at the lurch. Finally letting go as she knew they were in the air, she lifted her head slowly and looked about as if in wonder. "It's still dark...and your really good for just learning how to use your wings, so your okay on that..." she remembered the tactics they would use for fighting with their wings and whatnot when she and Iggy were just starting, and a small smile crossed her lips; how were they doing back home ( ... )

"I can see in the dark, child, so that is no great challenge for me to overcome," she replied, smiling at the compliment regardless. "I am also a fast learner, and even more so when I have a tutor as skilled as Max is." She continued gliding along, calm and somewhat lacking in conversation. The child was extremely light, and Warren had no problems carrying her at all. Only the occasional fidget or shifting in the position of her tiny passenger reminded her there was indded someone else along for the ride ( ... )

"..Max can fly really fast." Angel covered her mouth, a small blush painting her cheeks; that wasn't related to what Warren was talking about! "Max taught us a lot of things, so I know what you mean." She smiled, thinking about the first time they all attempted to cook; it was a breakfast to remember. Another shift to settle herself and secure the laptop again, and she smiled, leaning down and setting her face against the cloth on Warren's back ( ... )

"I'm sure she can," Warren noted with a smile. She was content to let the child ramble on, to recall events from her (and thus Max's) past. It simply allowed Warren further insight into the child's world, and into Max's own mind and heart. So she was happy to hear the words and listen intently on the tales spun ( ... )

Angel smiled also, looking downwards now to try and find out where Warren's house was on the ground, saying nothing more about her past.

"I spy with my little eye....something gray." The six-year-old was trying to lighten the mood, sensing a feeling of unhappiness from the women after her comment about part angels. "A curse?" The game paused for a moment as common sense kicked in, and she nodded, looking back over the side.

"I forgot..sorry!" She weakly smiled, turning her eyes back to the pretty silver wings Warren had. The color seemed comforting for the six-year-old, and she--being curious--reached over and gently touched one of the feathers to see what it would feel like.

"...wow..." She definitely sounded impressed with what Warren was saying.
