Summary: Makubex decides, yet again, that life sucks. Will someone come around to make his day better? (Or worse? :D)
Makubex stared blankly at the tiny notebook he'd taken to carrying around. Things weren't looking too good. He'd hoped that he'd have enough for Watanuki's cure by the end of March. He'd anticipated the Valentine's day setbacks. Which was fine. He'd already calculated that in. Losing a week and a half from the event and his curfew punishment, however, was putting a dent in his well-laid plans.
His hand strayed to his pocket. The envelope Kazuki had given him... Makubex had intended to return it. It was far too generous a gift. But now, he was having second thoughts. Others had given him money as well. He was touched, but also saw it as a sign of failure.
Maybe he'd take Yuuko up on her offer after all. The price was painfully steep, but it was for Watanuki-kun. But, then again, not knowing just when one would return home...
...Makubex winced. Yes, to make everything even better, Ginji was gone again, wasn't he? It was funny, he mused, that he wasn't used to it by now. Were Shido and Kazuki next? No, with his luck, they'd take Watanuki-kun away and...
...he stopped that thought cold. No, he wasn't going to think about that...
Makubex's mind then wandered to the man that had attacked Watanuki as a child. No luck on that front, either. He wasn't even sure what he'd do if he came face-to-face with him.
The boy sighed, stuffing the notepad into his pack. He rubbed at his eyes with the palms of his hands. It was getting late. He knew he should return to his shelter, but at the moment, he didn't particularly care who or what found him there.
