Sephiroth owed the SOLDIER a meeting. After all, he had promised that he would tell Zack and Angeal about how things went after allowing the redhead telepath to help him clear his mind. He had intended to meet up with him, often felt with a great sense of urgency that he should do so, but never actually wound up bothering to contact his friend. The only time the former general realized that he should have met with the other was before he'd received the vision and nightmare transmitted from the telepath's mind. And then after that, he had snapped and nearly underwent mental collapse.

Aside from that, Zack probably would not be thrilled to hear that Sephiroth had allowed himself to be infected by another alien or mutagen. Although the man had control of himself for the time being, he was unsure of when his body would simply 'act up' again of its own accord. If Schuldig hadn't helped him get a grip during their last encounter, perhaps he would have killed the telepath and gone on another rampage ( ... )

"There's actually plenty of work to do," Zack answered truthfully, pulling his steps to a halt just short of Sephiroth. He did a quick once over of his friend, mainly to make sure there were no visible signs of injury or anything unpleasant like that, before he offered him one of those familiar bright smiles. "I just didn't feel like doing it ( ... )

The silver-haired man shook his head slightly and offered a small but peaceful smile. The explanation spoke for itself; the SOLDIER had plenty of work to do but opted to see him instead. Hearing it gave him a sense of warmth inside, something that was good to experience once again. Had he known that meeting with Zack would make him feel so important inside, he might have tried to contact him earlier. Granted, he should have known that; Schuldig had advised it. He simply had gotten carried away in his wandering and always felt it happen sooner or later ( ... )

Zack nodded. He hadn't experienced that dream, but he had an idea of what the other was talking about; others had suffered it as well and Rufus had mentioned it to both Zack and Tseng in passing. He didn't know the details of it, hadn't asked honestly, but he knew enough to know that it had been unpleasant in nature and there had been more than one person who had been upset or seemingly disturbed the next day.

At least Schuldig was back now, though. Back and, from what Zack had seen of the other's post, seemingly back in the range of normal. "You've seen him since, right?" he asked, head tilting a little to the side in thoughtfulness and consideration. "I mean, he's helped you since he came back?" Zack didn't honestly doubt that he had--Sephiroth wasn't trying to attack him or the city--but he liked to be on the safe side of things. If not just for his friend's sake.
