Axel glanced at the two of then, nonplussed. Roxas' sudden change of being curled against his side to the defensive stance of crossed arms wasn't lost on him. It was merely interrupted by Larxene's shouting. It didn't garner much of a reaction from VIII, the Nobody merely sitting up fully now that he could.

He met Larxene's eyes evenly, trying manfully to restrain the grin that wanted to rise. When in doubt, his odd sense of humour was not always the best choice. At least she was getting it out of her system. A silent Larxene would have worried him, much as Roxas' silence did. Without hearts they might be, but the Nobodies had no difficulties in expressing themselves in Axel's opinion. Usually loudly.

"You two wouldn't have left me out there," he said, still struggling to keep that tone of good cheer that crept into his voice to a minimum. "If you had, someone would think we Nobodies are easy to beat or kill, and you would have taken that as a personal offense, Sparky. Roxas could use a workout after all that sea-salt ice cream he ate. Have you ever tried that?"

When in doubt, Axel was all for a subject change. He looked briefly to Roxas, trying to judge whether or not he was about to get poked with a Keyblade or not before grinning at Larxene.

"A diet? I'll have you know that the Turk woman who keeps molesting me thinks I'm just perfect the way I am."

The poking/stabbing with a Keyblade was starting to sound like a better and better idea, especially when Axel persisted in bringing up Val. Roxas's teeth ground together audibly at that.

He was not going to yell. He wasn't. He would very calmly take this in stride, and not let his temper get the better of him, and not march over there and shake Axel until that stupid grin fell off his stupid face, and not demand to know how Axel could have been so stupid, getting killed like that, where had all his self-preservation gone, WHY WAS HE BEING SO CASUAL ABOUT HAVING DIED. AGAIN.

All of that was what Roxas refused to yell. He clenched his fists hard enough to leave marks and kept his furious gaze on anything except Axel, because staring at that smirk was going to sever his last nerve and it wouldn't really help anything if Roxas ended up killing him again.

"Like hell we wouldn't have. I'll gladly slit your throat and toss you back out there, if you think I'm joking," she snapped sharply. Her gaze flicked momentarily over to Roxas, wondering just why he hadn't begun yelling, too. Both of them screaming at Axel seemed much more fun than the sound of her own voice reverberating off the walls.

"And a 'thank you' ought to be in order, you ungrateful prick." And if he didn't wipe that grin off of his face, Larxene really was tempted to launch herself at him and widen it with one of her knives. Very tempted.

Really, did all the men in her life have to be such ignorant, self-centered, smug jerks?
