While Nhadala had been off burning her ass, Rikku had been crawling around in the sand dunes with all the other Al Bhed toddlers. Admittedly, she had gotten her fair share of burns and scars from working in the shops and garages that were scattered around Home, but that hadn't come until her fingers had been strong enough to hold a wrench. Which, incidentally, had been just a few months after the Welding Episode ( ... )

The former forewoman was generally reluctant to work directly with those so much younger than her. Then again where it counted, Rikku was good. Eh, maybe age didn't matter so much anyway. She suspected Rin, nearer her own age, would never survive half of a day that she knew Rikku could tackle.

(That first bit applied to Paine, too, for that matter - Yevonite or not, she was high on Nhadala's very short 'Good' list. )

Nhadala was somewhat concerned about Rikku - there had been that scary recording, for one. She would keep a half-eye on her, of course, out of the cloistered concern that she had just because she was somewhat fond of the girl. Still, she doubted she'd need any babysitter - otherwise, she wouldn't have wanted her along. Well, if shit happened, it happened. AndNhadala was pretty good at dealing with shit. She did spend her days surrounded by Al Bhed men, after all.

No need to fret too much now.Yeah, Nhadala was hard to miss. Thankfully, she was no longer in the wander-around-a-thong-and-bra phase ( ... )

This place was going to be trouble; Paine knew that from the get-go. There had been mentions of it on the journals... people warning others away, though they had mostly been notices of a specific nature, and none had been directed at her. This, of course, meant that there was no conceivable reason why she shouldn't go... particularly if Rikku and Nhadala were both going to be there. Of course, it would have been nice to have gotten a hold of some means of defending herself first, but... oh well. The heels of the hands and feet were hard for a reason, and she liked to think the reason was that it made it significantly easier to beat ass ( ... )

For some reason, Rikku had never had problems with her wardrobe; she just seemed to have dumb luck like that. But, if a ‘Sand in the Unmentionables Award’ existed, the thief surely would have been a shoo-in to win it.

After sticking her tongue out at the other Al Bhed, Rikku shot her a grin. She knew she wasn't late, and if she was, it had only been by a few seconds. Then again, seconds counted in the desert - go too long without water, and you were a goner. It was a lesson all their people had to learn at one point or another, and the maytan's daughter was no exception.

Just as she took a breath to answer that she had no idea where the warrior was, lo and behold, Paine made her semi-grand entrance. That girl had a knack for stuff like that, even if she didn't know it. Smiling broadly, she saluted the rubber-clad girl.

"'Puid desa," she teased, clasping her hands behind her back and rocking on her heels. Her red-and-yellow scarf flicked through the air with the movement. "Fa fana kuhhy cdynd dra byndo fedruid oui."
