Summary: After Naruto’s post, Sakura goes looking for him, hoping that despite everything that has happened, he was okay.
In a way, it was all a dream. A very bad dream. Sakura could still remember Kakashi coming back with Naruto on his back after he had encountered Sasuke. She had felt bad, useless, feeble and pathetic. She had made him promise, promise to bring Sasuke back, and in the end, he had almost died. Sakura had been too afraid to ever ask what had actually happened, for the wounds on Naruto’s body had spoken the tale for themselves. She couldn’t even begin to imagine why, though she had never lost faith in Sasuke, faith that he would come back, and that things would be back to normal.
It was a childish dream, one that Sakura had held onto for many years. Even after encountering Sasuke after all those many years, that faith and hope had still flared, yet now, now that flame was faltering. She knew that Sasuke would do anything to beat his brother, but for the life of her, she had never thought he would go that far. Now Sakura did not know what to think Once, perhaps she would have fooled herself into thinking she didn’t care what happened to Naruto, but not now. No, anyone who sought to hurt him would be her enemy, so what did that make Sasuke? He had told her to have faith in him, but how could she? Stabbed, in the back, if what Naruto had said had been the truth. Right now though, there was nothing more that Sakura wanted than to find Naruto.
She moved at that deadly speed, using all her skills as a shinobi to her aid. Nothing but a whisper passed as she moved forward, making her way to the river. Yume had been locked in the kitchen, for the dog would just slow her down. Other shinobi would have noted her presence, but to the ordinary person, she was a blur. Coming to a pause, Sakura stopped by the river, not knowing exactly where Naruto was, but she had to be strong for him. Sakura knew Naruto well enough to know that he had tried to shield her, to protect her and keep her in the dark, but that innocence had already been shattered with the truth. As for Sasuke, Sakura did not know what to do about that, but her number one concern right now was Naruto.
