Alice smiled and peeked out from the back room. "I'm in here, Zack," she called, going back to washing the latest shipment of clothing and fabric. She finished the piece of fabric she was working on and hung it up on the clothes line, humming to herself as she wiped her hands off on her pinafore.

She made her way to the front of the store, smiling at Zack. "You definitely look.. different. How are you enjoying being a woman?" she asked as she beckoned him to follow her to the back room.

Zack grinned when Alice approached, giving a slight nod and making to follow after her without hesitation. “It’s still taking some getting used to,” she admitted, tugging lightly upon the edge of her dress to straighten it out, as though to prove her point. “But, I have to say-it’s really not all that bad. Something different, you know? It’s a shame more people aren’t having fun with it!”

"I think a lot of people can't get over the surprise of it. You seem to be one of the more.. adaptable people here," Alice said with a laugh as she went to the fireplace and worked on a loose brick.

"Now, I have to trust you that you won't tell anyone what I'm going to show you," she smiled as she finally got the brick loose, revealing a secret compartment where she kept the gemstones that she had gotten from Lightning, along with some spare money. She picked out 3 of the smallest gems and handed them to Zack. "Those are for the items for the beauty contest," she chuckled. "I'm sure Namine will be able to help you pick out some things that will be of good use."

After a moment's thought, she grabbed one of the largest gems and handed it to him. "And that's for the baby. You need a proper bassinet, baby clothes, decorations for the baby's room, and all that. This should cover it, and then some."

Zack had to laugh at that, because Alice was completely right. There was, all in all, very little that Zack couldn’t easily adapt to, and that had always been the case. “Maybe they’ll start to get used to it after a couple of days,” she responded, something between hopeful for that and amused at the idea that they would be stuck in the wrong genders for an extended period of time.

“I promise with all of my heart,” was what Zack said next, giving a sort of brief salute before she looked to see just what Alice was doing. And that was-oh, they were really sparkly, weren’t they? Her eyes widened a bit, semi-distracted, and she took the offered ones, examining them.

And she might have started to say something about how sparkly they were, but Alice’s next movements-and words-caught her rather off guard and instead she was just sort of staring at the other. “… are you serious?”

"Well, I doubt the Gods will let people stay like this for long. At least.. I hope they wouldn't," Alice said as she replaced the brick in her fireplace. She turned back to Zack just as he asked if she was serious. "Yes, I'm serious. I have enough money to keep the store stocked and I'd feel better if you guys had a nest egg or something. Just in case something were to happen, God forbid."

“Never can tell with them,” Zack remarked, thinking that he may be… well, a little sad if it at least didn’t last long enough for the beauty contest. And just because he really, really, really wanted to see Cloud forced into participation.

And then he was sort of speechless for a moment, watching Alice, uncertain as to whether or not he should take such an offering. But, it would have been rude of him not to, huh? Slowly, he accepted the gem, staring at it for a moment before-promptly launching himself at Alice and giving her a tight hug. (Though neither was done with enough force to hurt her.) “… thank you.”

"Well, that's part of the reason we need to do this beauty contest as quickly as possible. I'm going to start taking sign-ups for it tomorrow," Alice laughed.

She returned the hug and laughed. "You're welcome. I need to use them anyway, before one of the thieves finds out that I have them. I hope they have a bank on the upper level, because I can definitely use one."

“You’ve already got Cloud signed up, right?” She asked almost immediately, wanting to be certain. And then, “Are you just taking girls, or should we throw the boys in, too? Maybe give them a contest of their own?”

Zack grinned brightly, releasing Alice a moment later. She didn’t really have words for how much Alice’s gesture meant to her, but-she’d be certain to make the most of it, that wasn’t to be doubted. (Not to mention that she definitely, definitely owed Alice now and she didn’t care what the other said about that.) “They do have a bank up there! I’ve never actually been in there, but I’ve walked past it a few times.”

"Not yet, but I'll definitely put him on the list. I think it'd be more fun if we had both genders, though I'll definitely separate the guys and the girls," Alice laughed. "I'm hoping this will be really fun, since God knows we can use the fun down here."

"Oh, that's good! One more reason for me to try to get up there, then," Alice laughed. "Actually, I might ask the Gods if it's okay for me to start an account, if you or Namine are willing to make deposits and withdrawals for me."
