Today Is Derricks birthday. Today would have been Derrick's 19th birthday. Its hard right now to put my feelings into words, what I have to say may sound morbid but its not suppose to in the least. I will say that you were beautiful, just like everyone of us kids in the family. I will say your smile was award winning and its what i think of first when someone mentions you. I will say that whenever I see a kid with bleached blonde hair I think of some idiot kid patting you on the head at your funeral and messing up your hair so I had to smooth it back down for you. I will say Ive never quite been part of something so amazing as a whole town shutting down in mourning of your death, or the high school retiring your basketball number and hanging your jersey in the gym.
I will say that noone will ever forget you because we keep your pictures close to us always.
