The first drops were nearly unnoticeable as they touched his skin, but Tousen had heard and smelt the rain coming even before it began to fall. He turned his face towards the sky and let the raindrops beat against his face until the steady falling became an overbearing downpour. It was a hard, cold rain that most wouldn’t want to be caught dead in, but Tousen didn’t mind. He missed the rain. He hadn’t felt the beating of raindrops on his skin since he left Soul Society.
A small, irregular spike of reiatsu brought his attention to Wonderweiss. The young Aarancar seemed to be enjoying himself as well, twirling in the rain and catching the cool drops on his outstretched tongue. Of course Tousen couldn’t see this, but he could feel Wonderweiss’ energy and imagined that he would be doing such a thing by the way he was moving.
A smile tugged at his lips. “This must be your first time in the rain, Wonderweiss.”
“Uhwa!” Wonderweiss replied, laughter and childlike wonder evident in his voice.
Tousen’s smile widened and he held out his hand for Wounderweiss to take. The Aarancar stopped his dancing and took the ex-captain’s hand. “We must head back now, Wonderweiss.”
“Wa…” The spark of happiness dimmed from his indigo colored eyes as he nodded and followed Tousen back to Huecho Mundo.
