An Explanation

Hello.

I realise I've been somewhat absent recently. Let's just say that real life caught up with me.

And then my notebook got attacked by a leaky bottle of coke. Said notebook being the one that was being used to write Returning, and the pen that was being used was one of the wet ink variety which smudges as soon as you look at it. Why? Because I like writing in a pen that feels like a fountain pen.

Note to self. Use biro from now on!

Anyway, I was a little upset about the ruination (is that a word?) of my hard work and carefully separated out the pages with super absorbant kitchen roll before abandoning it under my bed. Where it lay for many months.

I would regularly come online, look sadly at this LiveJournal and think 'I must finish that story'. But real life continued and so I didn't.

Until the other day, when I was looking for something else, cleared out under my bed, and lying away at the back was a lonely looking notebook with bits of kitchen roll sticking out from it.

Incredibly, while some of the kitchen roll was stuck to the paper and a large amount of writing has clearly been lost forever, the damage didn't seem as bad as it had at the time. Maybe it was never as bad as I thought and I've wasted all this time when I could have been enjoying telling the story.

Anyway, there's a few pages which are completely ruined and I wish I hadn't left it so long to get back to typing them up. If I'd attacked it when it had happened I probably would have remembered what I'd been thinking at the time. As it happens I don't, so some bits need a lot more tweaking than others. But I'm hoping to get them all up soon.

Starting with Chapter 15 which I hope to post in... ooh... about ten minutes :D

I have learnt one lesson from this... People! Always do up the lids on your diet coke bottles VERY tightly!

:D
