December's DITL

Dec 19, 2014 09:22

I'm not sure when the moderator will post this in the DITL community, so I copied the entry and pasted it below. It's a hodge podge of a couple days in December, most notably last Sunday when we took the boys to the firefighting museum in Hudson, NY.

A family trip to the FASNY Museum of Firefighting for two truck-loving boys. No warnings.

Wow, they look super thrilled to be awake.
(This is before they realized the trip we were about to take).

No photos of breakfast, getting ready, or the hour-long trip to the museum.

Once we got there, boys were all smiles!

Some of the fire trucks were decorated for the holidays with presents and bows. This one was on safari.

A model train set ON TOP OF a fire truck!?! Leo's life is now complete.

Lots of cool details and images painted on these old trucks.

"Daddy! Look at all these beautiful twucks!"

We tried to form a bucket brigade and save the cottage from the flames.
We failed.

The boys did much better in the "Junior Firefighter Training Center".

Putting out the flames in a burning building

They also drove the fire truck, practiced sliding down the fire pole, and crawling beneath the smoke.

They don't look super happy, but trust me-- they were THRILLED!

We found another fire truck to practice driving!

"Move over, it's my turn to drive!"

Maybe in a few years your feet will actually reach the pedals, buddy.

And then we found the dress-up outfits.

Very intent on getting to the scene of the fire

Jake finds this all very exciting.

Then Mama pretends to be a fire and the boys have to spray water to put it out.

"Oh no, you've sprayed me with too much water! I'm going out."

Coiling up the hose and getting ready to leave for lunch!

As we walked out, Ben wanted me to take a picture of this, "the most beautiful engine".
I have to agree with him. It's gorgeous.

We went to a diner for a quick lunch, drove an hour home, and then this happened:

"I've gotta do my chores, Mom, and scrape off all this heavy snow!"

He was working really hard. I love this boy so much.

We ate dinner, vegged out for the evening, and this was the last photo taken.
See you in 2015, DITL! It's been a great year.
