We start October photos with a series of boys cuddled under blankets, watching movies, and pretending to sleep with Daddy
Various stages of yogurt-smeared faces, too
Next up: Home improvement project #43- blow insulation into our attic!
We rented the blower from Lowe's and purchased 25-ish bags of recycled paper insulation. Jake blew a layer over all parts of our attic, including some spaces that were nearly bare (and our house is only 15 years old). This should help with the overall heating/cooling of our house, although we have nothing to compare it to as this is our 1st full winter here.
Long hose ascending into our bedroom window (PS-- see our newly painted black shutters? That was home improvement project #38)
Thank goodness my parents were visiting that weekend! It was super helpful to have two extra sets of hands
Blowing insulation means wearing face masks
One weekend, we visited the local apple orchard/farm with my cousin and her children
The boys took a cart ride
Then we crossed the street to the pumpkin patch!
Leo found his baby pumpkin in the first 2 minutes
Ben, on the other hand, searched and searched until he found the "perfect" one
Next up: apple cider making at Mike's house!
There were a ridiculous amount of apples, a ton of people, and a lot of fun!
Once the trailer was emptied a little, the boys got to climb in and help put apples into laundry baskets and 5-gallon buckets to be transferred to the washing stations
Apples have to be washed ~4 times and all the rotten bits cut away
The cider press
Not even a complete photo of all the cider that was made! Holy cow, it was a lot
We did our annual trip to the corn maze (a different one this year)
They had a ton of cool things for kids to play on: zip lines for all ages, slides, bales of hay to jump on...
Awesome
The tickets were through Karen's workplace, which was fantastic. All this fun, for free!
Corn maze 2013. It was blustery and cold, but the boys had a lot of fun!
Post-maze hot chocolate
Then it was 70 degrees the night we carved our Halloween pumpkins.
Ben insisted that his was the "most spooky" and Daddy's was "very scary" but not mine or Leo's.
Leo was just pleased as punch that his pumpkin had his name carved into it
Halloween 2013, just before heading out for trick or treating. While I had planned for the boys to go as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat, they had different ideas. Ben was a "pirate horse" and Leo was a firefighter, recycling Ben's costume from 2 years ago. They had a great time!
