Leo had an appointment on Friday and is doing great! He is 26 inches long and 16 3/4 lbs. We just went back to Ben's baby book and Ben was the same length but only 13 lbs at this point. Maybe Ben will turn out to be the bigger of the two boys, who knows?
Leo is also rolling like a pro and trying his darndest to fall out of his snail chair. Thank goodness he was strapped in today, because it would have been a face plant on our hardwoods. He has found his piggies and likes to chew on them whenever he can. Drooling lots and lots, but no sign of teeth.
We harvested our peaches tonight and they are delicious. We're probably going to make a peach cobbler or peach ice cream, as we have a dinner to go to on Tuesday. Some of them are getting frozen in cubes for Leo to have when he starts solids in another couple months, although we let him suck on our peach-juicy fingers tonight when we were done. He liked it pretty well.
Leo has sat on his own a couple times for just a few seconds, then topples over really fast. He's getting so big too quickly! Oh my sweet, precious baby boy. I love him more than I could ever express.
I find it really remarkable how differently I love Ben and Leo. Definitely not one MORE than the other, but love DIFFERENTLY and appreciate and cherish different things about them. At this moment, one thing I absolutely adore about Leo is how he breaks into a wide grin whenever he sees me now and is really close to reaching out for me to hold. For Ben, whenever I can get him giggling just melts my heart. He's doing so well potty learning, and I hope that we won't have too much of a setback when we move.
Speaking of moving, Jake contacted three places today and hopefully we'll be settling on something soon. We finally could narrow down our search area as we found out that JAKE GOT THE SCHENECTADY JOB!!!! It's his dream position: middle school general music and choir (with some elementary general music thrown in there). It's in the heart of Schenectady, which he described to me as looking 'a little better than downtown Detroit'. Heh. He has taught inner-city students before, when he worked up in Flint, and finds it very gratifying. Hopefully this job will be the same. It's 80% right now, with the possibility of it becoming full-time, depending on scheduling issues. Still, it's a public school position, with health insurance and benefits, and really close to my job. We're looking at 10-15 min commutes for each of us, instead of 30+ min.
Much going on in very little time, I'm glad I found the ability to update. Right now we're dealing with a rambunctious toddler up way past his bedtime. I'm going to try to wrangle him and then Leo to sleep, then it's bedtime for me. Back to the grind tomorrow.
