After taking stair pictures and packing up and my mother insisting that we take a plate of cookies over to Jake's parent's, we finally left their home around 11. We initially hoped to be at Jake's parent's house BY 11, so we were worried about being late and everyone waiting around for us. Fortunately, we didn't have to worry long because we were the first to show up (Jake's brother and SIL and children came a few minutes after us). The Gigi and Papa and Jake's Aunt Cheryl were able to have a nice, relaxing morning before the onslaught of grandchildren. I think Jake's mom has gotten used to this idea and, while she hates not having someone at her house to open gifts in the wee hours of the morning, she's very glad to have us for the entire afternoon.
Ben has decided that he likes to climb stairs. This is a problem because he doesn't have a lot of experience climbing them like his cousins, and has no business going up and down facing forward. We ended up spending a lot of time spotting him on these stairs and forcing him to hold onto the railing through our vacation.
Handing out stockings. This is a subject of an upcoming post.
Julia, Jack, Sam & Kathleen. Jake and I used to sit on the loveseat at the far end of the room, but we decided that we would be hampered there and Ben would want to run around. So we brought in chairs from the kitchen and set up on the opposite end of the room. Much better!
Ben had a monkey and car-themed Christmas. Oh, and also Elmo.
The princess with Jake. Gosh, is she adorable.
Cousins playing! <3, <3, <3
Ben had SO. MUCH. FUN playing with all of his extended family. Yet another reason for Jake to tell me we should move closer to home.
Cousins playing piano! More <3
Christmas dinner. Jake's Aunt Cheryl and father.
Ben tried the olives, but had not much else for dinner. I think he was overstimulated by all the presents and excitement that day. He started to throw fits shortly afterward and we put him to bed early.
And that was our Christmas holiday! :)
