Jake and I just found out that a friend of ours is pregnant (!) and getting married (!). We're both elated for her.
Guess when her wedding is...
June 13 (i.e. one week after our EDD) There's no way that we can attend, even though she's a really close friend from college. We'll either (a) still be pregnant or (b) have a newborn that I'm not going to take on an 8-hour car ride and not even consider taking on a plane.
This makes the THIRD wedding (2 on June 6 and 1 on June 13) that we're unable to attend because of Babycakes here in my belly and the FOURTH baby born between July and October that will be in kindergarten with ours. It's a freakin' wedding and baby EXPLOSION around here!
Thinking about it makes me sad. We're going to miss so many important events for our close friends and the births of so many babies (because, of course, all the people are in NY).
It makes me feel a little isolated. We're so far removed from NY and our families and our college friends (most of them are in NY still).
I love living in Michigan and Jake is loving it more and more as well. We're getting to the point that we're seriously considering staying here when all is said and done (which, for Jake, is a HUGE step). This is the only negative about living 8 hours away from friends and family... they're just so far away!
Jake just got off the phone with her and we've set up a lunch/coffee date in Syracuse in April, the day before the family baby shower. So at least we'll get to see her before her wedding/baby. I hope that everything works out, as other get-togethers that have been planned on have fizzled in the weeks leading up to the event.
OMG (squee!) BABIES
