Boy. Been a while since I last update,d hasn't it? I bet a lot of people have even forgotten I existed. Can't blame you, really. I've been pretty limited in my internet socializing. Self-limited, but I'm trying to come back to places I've abandoned.
I stopped updating as I didn't feel I had anything worth saying. I still don't but hey. Why not?
So I've cleaned out my userpics and added some new ones that suit my current self better. If you look, you'll see that most of them are of my own characters. I kept three of my old ones because they make me laugh.
So what's been going on with me?

Keverynn (Path of the Warrior/Path of the Sorceress/Path of the Master)
Of those three novels (all part of the same series), the first one is finished and has been sent off to a publisher. Woo! I still haven't heard back from them, but its still early. The earliest I can expect a response from them is October. That would be an awesome birthday present, but I'm not really expecting anything until November or December.
PotS, the second one, is nearly done its first draft. I have about 8,000 words until my goal is met for that. No problem. I know what I'm doing with those words. I just have to sit down and do it. once that's done, PotM can be started and I can finally finish the novel I started ten years ago when I was a high school student.
People who tell me that Keverynn reads like a fan fic? I found one of the earliest drafts of the story. That reads like a fic. The current version is so much better. It hurts to read the older stuff. I mean literally hurts.
Angels of the Night
It's kind of been pushed to the back burner for now. I'm in the process of rewriting a few bits to help it make some more sense and get the ending I've devised for it make more sense. Dropping subtle hints through what I've written so far and so on. Fleshing out the characters as well. It's come a long way since I first came up with it while at work to dispel boredom. A very long way.
The Stars of Destiny
Remember this? It's a Sailormoon fanfic that I rewrote into an original story that spawned a few (mostly unwritten) prequels. I'm about finished with the first of those prequels. The original SoD arc needs to be rewritten quite badly, but I'm going to hold off on that until I've written everythign that happened (chronologically) before that.
Children of the Tiger
This novella became the basis for my webcomic. It's in its secondd year now and in its 9th chapter. Since I started the comic, the novella has been fleshed out quite a lot and the world its set in has expanded. I've just completed the story's prequel. In November, I used that world for my NaNoWriMo project and wrote about the 5 Sages. There's quite a lot of stuff written in this world and it's quite promising.
A little while ago, I had some issues with the comic's art style. To avoid those issues, I changed how I made it. I began doing all the line work by hand and colouring it in photoshop. I'm really happy with how it looks now even though my anatomy is really kind of poor in places. I then decided to go back and flesh out the earlier chapters to make it flow more smoothly. There were two ways of doing that.
1. Go back to the way I'd done things before
2. Use my current style and redraw everything
I went with option 2 and found myself being very happy with it. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it. The consensus among the comic's fans seems to be that as long as I still keep up with my regular updates they're very happy to see the redrawn pages. Yes, still going forward with the comic while redrawing the earlier chapters. Why not?
Currently, the comic updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a sketch uploaded every Sunday.
http://cot.keverynn.net is where you can find the current comic
http://cot.keverynn.net/redrawn/main.html is where I'm archiving the redrawn pages. The layout is incredibly boring right now but it's mostly just a test to see how things are going. A more interesting layout will be designed when it becomes worth it.
Fan projects
Shards of Phaeton
My plucky little Sailormoon sprite comic. I've had fans threaten to beat me with hockey sticks if I stop making this before its finished. It's in chapter 10 right now and updates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
http://phaeton.keverynn.net Other fanfiction
I'm trying to pull away from fanfic so everything has been condensed to one place:
http://fanfiction.keverynn.netSome things have bene taken down completely, but for the most part its all still there if you're really interested in reading it.
Real Life
Made it this far? Have a cookie.
I'm still in northern Saskatchewan. Still in La Loche. I'm not subbing as much as I did last year or the year before. That's ok. It gives me more time to devote to my art and writing and my house gets cleaned more. We adopted a second puppy in October of last year. Her name is Shadow. She's black and she tends to follow us around like our shadow, so it fits her quite well. She was spayed a couple days ago.
Aislyn is in grade 1 and doing very well. Her school has something called guided reading and she's just about ready to move up to level 8. Right now, a 7 is required to pass into grade 2. She might make it to 9 before the end of the year. She's had her name up on the Math wall for most of the year. There was only one testing period where she wasn't and that was only because she got a question wrong.
She just lost her first baby tooth, so she had her first 'tooth fairy' visit on Tuesday. We were feeling generous and gave her $2 for that. She used it to buy snacks at recess the next day. She was so proud of herself.
Liam is in Pre-K. He did some Pre-K last year starting in March, but he wasn't old enough to register for kindergarden this year so he's back in Pre-K. He's not doing as well as his sister. He has a few good days but largely he doesn't. He doesn't like his teacher at all. He's been diagnosed with Anxiety disorder and we're working on getting that treated. Problem is, it's hard dealing with that stuff when you live almost 4 hours from the nearest big town. There's almost nothing out here.
Other than that, he's a happy, healthy boy. He potty trained himself one day. I'd been trying for ages to do that and he just up and did it one day. He's been getting progressively better about that, so yay!
I've been bribing him with quarters and computer time to behave at school. He's saved up quite a bit of money. A bit more than $10 now. Not all of that was from this as I only started doing it last week, but he had some left over birthday money from his Great Grandma Anderson and a bit from something else from a long time ago. He'd forgotten about all that older money so when we spilled it out to count it today he was very pleased with the huge pile of coins. Hopefully, it will encourage him to improve hiss behaviour.
James is still teaching grade 6 while getting his Masters degree in Educational Administration. He travels to La Ronge at least once a month and spends most of July down there. He started that last summer. It's stressful, but its going ok.
So....gonna try and keep this journal going again
