Ok, so I'm back from Edmonton. Yay. We weren't supposed to be back until Tuesday or Wednesday, but we're home now. Honestly? I'm glad to be home. I would have liked to stay longer to see my one brother who was down visiting his in-laws while we were there. It's odd...Every time I go to Edmonton, he and his wife and kid are away.
So points of interest.
We dropped the mutt off at my mom's place on Wednesday then went to Lynne's for a massive family barbecue thing (which really wasn't a barbecue at all). Watched Aislyn play wtih a little girl for the first time ever. Her cousin Madelyn is only a little older than she is, so this was massively cute.
Thursday we went to a spray park wtih the Lynne, Mike, Kelly, and the kidlings. Apparently, there was no need ot bother putting Aislyn or Liam in swim gear as they ignored the water in favor of the jungle gyms and massive amounts of sand instead. Fine. Then we went to the mall and hung out (just my family) for a bit. had ice cream. Yum.
It was my 5th anniversary on Friday. James and I went to Tony Roma's in West Edmonton Mall for supper and then did some shopping. *cough* My bestest friend was kind enough to look after the clones while we were gone. Thanks loads,
harmonynote. 'Auntie Stacey' is quite possibly the most popular sitter we've had, ranking wtih grandma and Uncle Geoffrey. Aislyn even asked me the following morning if Stacey was going to come back. It just happened that Stace and I had plans to hang out that day, so we hung ou around the apartment watching TV and tickling my kids senseless. We watched Supernatural and Trinity Blood. I hooked her on SPN, she hooked me on TB. Mutual hookage is a beautiful thing. I burned her copies of all my SPN episodes, so she can catch up before October 4th (which is apparently when SPN starts up again, not some nebulous date in September).
Sunday, we had two of our friends over for a barbecue which degenerated into Wii playing. My kids throught that 'Duck Hunt' was the single most hysterical game in the world.
Today we picked up the puppy from mom's and came home. Ugh. Am very tired. Am very glad that all people wanted to eat today was toast and sandwiches, which involve no actual cooking. I don't want to cook after long road trips.
I'd planned on doing art and writing while on vacation. I did manage to get two SPN images mostly done in my sketchbook, but I want to tweak the second one as I realized afterwards that the body proportion is all wrong (read: too long for the art style).
