So while I was stuck in Meadowlake on Tuesday, I got to thinking. It's just about 1 year ago that I discovered Supernatural. unlike most people I know, I haven't been a fan since day 1. Point of fact, I didn't see any of it until last summer when I downloaded the first season and watched it.
For a while before that, I'd seen buses in Edmonton advertising the show with a slogan that said something like 'It's your worst nightmares...with hot guys'. Me, tending to mistrust anything said on an ETS bus ad, ignored it. Then, one day I was at my mom's doing laundry. I was watching Space channel as I tended to do and I saw a commercial for Supernatural. I immediately recognized Jensen Ackles (as I'd been a huge Dark Angel fan before that). I watched the preview and went, 'huh'. I looked it up on my laptop (as it was still working at that time) and it looked massively interesting. When I got home that night, I set up the download. A day alter, I got home from work and started to wach it.
Oh.
My.
When they talk about love at first sight, they don't mean with TV shows, but that's what this was.
So here's to my first full year as an addict. How are we celebrating this? My Season 1 box set just arrived today. SQUEEEEEEEEE! My husband bought it for me on Amazon. The only problem was that it was a toss up between Season 1 of SPN or the complete series of 'Roar', which I've loved for much longer (10 years!) than Supernatural. In the end, the Winchester boys won over Heath Ledger in tight leather pants, but only just barely. And now it's here, it's mine, and my joy knows no bounds. Later, I will have fresh baked cookies and sweet, sweet Supernatural.
serenitysangel, I'll get that cookie recipe to you later today as well. I haven't forgotten. It's just been the crazy busy around here.

Ok, now on to the serious crap. :P
I mentioned being stuck in Meadowlake on Tuesday. I was taking the girl there to get her new shoes and a new swim suit as those things aren't easy to find out here where I live. There were other things I needed to get, too.
50 minutes down the road, I hit a huge pot hole. Boy, was it nasty. 5 minutes later, i have a flat tire. Great. I've never changed a tire in my life. As it turns out, there's no way I could have done this one on my own even if I had known how. Literally two minutes after I pull over on the road and get my 4-way blinkers going, a highway emergeny vehicle comes up the road and the guy helped me get the tire changed to my spare. Unfortunately, one of the bolts holding the rim and tire on snapped in the process of getting it off. So here I am, at least 2 1/2 hours away from Meadowlake with a spare tire and a missing bolt. Great. The only places to get tires are in Meadowlake. I was heading there anyways, but James said over the phone that I shouldn't really go more than 80 km/h on the spare. There were points where I could do 100, but not many. A trip that should have taken me 3 1/2 hours took 5 1/2 hours. Guh.
So I got to Fountain Tire and they got me set up wtih a new tire, but they didn't have the bolt I needed. Since it's not good to do long distance travel wtih a missing one, to put it mildly, I had to stay in town over night while they got a bolt shipped to them. There is a definite down side to driving a Kia in this part of the world. So here we are, me and my girl, in Meadowlake. We got a room at the Super 8 (it had a pool!) and just hung out. No sense doing the groceries until the next day. We watched TV, went swimming, Aislyn colored pictures...We had some fun, me and my girl.
I was in the worst possible head state on Tuesday and Wednesday, and yet I was quite happy. It's really hard to describe. I wanted to be home and didn't want to be shelling out the money for a new tire, the bolt, and the hotel, but I had little choice in the matter. I just decided to enjoy myself and relax and that's what I did. I was so happy to see my home last night and sleep in my own bed, even if little miss puppy was being a pest.
