Round 14 - "Journeys"
Mixer's Notes: This is a compilation depicting the recruitment trip Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr embark on during the film X-Men: First Class (2011). The two mutants, having met when Charles talked Erik out of a kamikaze attack on his nemesis, embark on a journey (somewhat sponsored by the FBI) to put together and train a band of young mutants. Much of fanlore states that this was something more than just an innocent business trip, and much of the film (particularly the deleted scenes) seems to support this notion. This soundtrack follows the journey of the two on their big gay mutant husbands honeymoon-cum- recruitment trip, concluding with a note on how like all good things, this too must come to an end.
About the Mix: This mix contains 10 songs, and is entirely instrumental except for The Young Ones by Cliff Richard, for which the lyrics can be found
here. This mix is inspired by
Run (Instrumental) by Gnarls Barkley, a song featured on the OST. I attempted to give the big gay mutant husbands romance a soundtrack with a 60s feel by using only songs that are released in or before 1962. There are also elements of vaudeville/burlesque nostalgia where appropriate (you'll know it when you see it). All quotes found in the booklet are from X-Men: First Class (2011).
Well, what are you waiting for, baby?
