Mike left earlier this morning, so I'm just kind of chilling here by myself. His bus was at 8, so he wanted to get up at 6, and we ended up getting there super early, so I had to stand around with him for awhile before the bus finally showed up. He got off fine though, and then I went back to my apartment and went to bed! I got up around 1:30, and yeah, I've just been doing little things all day. Nothing too exciting. At some point I think I might go grocery shopping, that sounds good, and I don't have any snacks or anything. I went to the library to pick up some books for my Bier Magazine reviews that I have to do. That's probably the most productive thing I've done all day.
Mike's visit was awesome. We did so many things. Friday we made turkey burgers and had wine and apparently whenever you use the oven in this apartment the fire alarm goes nuts, so that was a thrill. Then Saturday we went to Columbia so he could look around and then took a little nap and went out for sushi and met my friend Stephanie later for drinks. She'd won a free open bar at Porky's (a pretty gross bar with really gross alcohol for the free drinks, but whatever, I had a good time and free drinks are free drinks). The next day it rained a lot and we went down to Chinatown, which Mike loved. It's huge! I've only ever been down Canal because whoever I'm with just wants knock-off purses (which I am not really a fan of...) so that's that. I got candy (I know it's not South Beach, but who can pass up the little ice cream flavored Chupa Chups???) and Mike got little bowls for sake and tea. We ate some tasty Chinese food and then went home and had some gazpacho we'd made earlier and then headed out to wait in line to see the Upright Citizens' Brigade. We didn't get tickets, so we had to wait in standby for 2 hours in the pouring rain to get in the theater. It was well worth the wait though, and the show was hilarious (and free). I recommend anyone with some extra time in New York to go see it sometime. Then yesterday we walked around and shopped (Mike shopped, I am not allowing myself to shop until I have a job) and then went to see Letterman! During the time between the ticket-getting and going in to the theater we went to this Cuban restaurant I've been to. It was happy hour, so we got mojitos. Holy shit. After kicking two of those back I was well on my way to inebriation. I didn't mean to! I didn't need to be drunk to see Letterman, he's freaking hilarious. Martin Short was the guest (it was Friday's taping that we saw) and I looove him, so I was very happy. We sat in the third row and it was great. Mike and I got in a fight afterwards while looking for food, but we make up very easily and we were fine after a bit. When he left this morning he said "I love you." :-D
The job front is not so hot right now. I did apply to two jobs at Harper today though. I feel like I'm selling my soul to the devil by applying for publicity jobs. That's the one department that I do not like but know I'd be able to handle, so I apply anyway. Anything to get my foot in the door. I have a job interview tomorrow and a free haircut, so it looks like it'll be a good day, minus the rain we're supposed to have. Quel dommage. Thursday is supposed to be nice so I'm thinking of having a beach day by myself!
