HereAppearance:
The first thing one usually notices about Draco is his pale and pointed face- giving him an almost shrewd look. That very look is normally accentuated through his expressions; Smug, self-assured, and ridiculing of any he considers unworthy of his time. Oddly enough, he also manages to maintain a cold and calculative demeanor.
Draco also has fine bones, giving him the appearance of one much more fragile than he is in actuality. With his blond hair and grey eyes, there is little indication that he may be rotten on the inside- save for his expressions, of course.
For clothing, he often wears his wizarding robes- black and perfectly fitted. Rarely will he disgrace himself by wearing muggle attire, unless it be for an occasion in which it's unavoidable.
Also worth noting is that hidden beneath the sleeve on his arm is the Dark Mark- a tattoo-like symbol depicting a serpent entwined around a skull.
Personality:
If his appearance wasn't any indicator of it- Draco is a very cold, very shrewd, individual. Rather than attack someone outright, he would be more the type to use words and subtle threats, perhaps finding a means of harm that doesn't endanger himself- such as using others, or even turning friends against each other. Arrogant and snide, he also enjoys boasting.
To put it more simply, Draco Malfoy is a bully. A psychological bully moreso than a physical one, but a bully all the same. He'll find out your wounds, and rub salt into them- almost meaning he has a sarcastic sort of wit.
As well, it can be said that he is an elitist, never one to believe that a half-blood or muggle-born wizard can be as great (or greater) than one of pure-blooded birth.
Pitiless, seeming to honestly lack compassion, moments of regret are very rare for him. So rare, that in all honesty, they might as well not exist. What is noteworthy is that he really is more talk than anything else. If hesitation is to arise on his behalf, it's bound to be more through the realization that he's got to commit to his words than anything else. Draco would rather buy others' out than actually earn his positions, rather rat someone out than stop them himself.
Still, what makes him interesting is that, despite his behavior indicating the contrary, he really isn't wholly bad. He has a moral streak- something of a moral cowardice, but it exists all the same. If he knows something is bad, truly bad, he isn't one to commit the act- partially in fear of the consequences, and partially because he knows that it's just something he... shouldn't do. It's a complicated moral system, but it does exist, even though it's exceedingly rare to emerge.
He even cares greatly for his family, enough to take great offense to anyone that dares mock them. It's can be said that he does feel remorse, should the situation he's remorseful about be severe enough. Luckily, or unluckily, as it may be- there aren't many of these situations.
He isn't a nice person by any stretch of the imagination, but he isn't a cold-blooded killer either. A bit of a selective drama-queen, possibly, when it comes to faking or exaggerating injuries (might be Hypochondriasis?), but not a murderer.
As a final point, Draco can be easily intimidated by figures of more power and authority than himself, never one to do well as the victim of bullying. He's actually been called sensitive before, although this isn't the most trustworthy of descriptions.
Abilities/Strengths:
Before even touching his magic, it's good to know that Draco has an abundance of other strengths as well. Like stated in his personality, he is very adept at finding the psychological wounds of others, and rubbing as much salt into them as possible. His own detachment regarding the troubles of others is also a strength, meaning he doesn't often get bogged down by conscience.
As far as his magic is concerned, he is excellent at potions, somewhat skilled in Occlumency (the ability to shield one's mind from the prying of others), good at flying a broom, and... not too bad at faking injuries either. Definitely not one any should underestimate, even if he is mostly talk- because Draco's still got enough skill to back it up a lot of the time, if he actually thought it was worth bothering with.
Weaknesses:
First and foremost, Draco's most prominent weakness is his own cowardice when it comes to putting himself in danger. In addition to that, he is easily intimidated by his father and the other Death Eaters. When not in a position where he's the one doing to bullying, he really doesn't fare well.
He would much rather bribe than put himself at risk to earn respect.
While his magic may be decent, he is also just human- flesh and blood. Without his wand, he would have little means of defending himself, and he is just as mortal as everyone else.
History:
Draco was born into the wealthy Malfoy family, son of Lucius and Narcissa- also a descendant of the Noble House of Black, through his mother's side. His father was a Death Eater allied with Lord Voldemort- the most evil wizard of the time- but somehow avoided imprisonment following his fall by claiming to have been under the Imperious curse (a curse wherein one wizard can exert complete control over another).
Draco led an easy, and very spoiled life, inheriting his family's distaste for muggles and muggle-born wizards. Being a pure-blooded wizard himself, one could even call it a prejudice.
At the age of eleven, he received his letter of acceptance into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry- not a surprise, of course. His father then took him shopping for school supplies in Diagon Alley. It was there that he met another young wizard by the name of Harry Potter. This boy, although he didn't recognize him as such at the time, was the one that survived Voldemort's killing curse all those years ago, henceforth ending his reign of terror.
Draco 'befriended' him, unknowingly insulting both muggle-borns, and one of his actual friends, Hagrid, the oversized gatekeeper at Hogwarts. Later, he ran into Harry again, this time realizing who it was. Unfortunately, his offer for friendship was declined this time when he insulted the Weasley family, whom had been very kind to Harry.
Due to that, Draco considering him a rival for the rest of their school years, ever finding amusement in mocking him.
Arriving at Hogwarts, it came as no surprise that Draco was sorted into the Slytherin house- the same house that his family had been in for generations. It was one known to foster the most dark wizards out of the four of them.
Soon after, he gained two friends- more like lackeys, actually- named Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. He even went so far as to challenge Harry to a duel- merely a ploy to have him caught out of bed afterhours. To him, all the fame Harry was getting was entirely unfair. He even thought that Potter's fame was the only reason he was allowed to play Quidditch (a wizarding sport played on broomsticks) in his first year- being the youngest to do so in over a hundred years.
Ironically, it was all Draco's fault that he made the team. Having been bullying a clumsy Gryffindor student named Neville Longbottom, he tossed his remembrall into the air, leading to Harry mounting his broom and catching it in front of a professor.
He was even forced to serve detention with both Potter, Longbottom, and their muggle-born friend, Hermione Granger, ratting them out for helping Hagrid smuggle a dragon out of the school- not that he was believed. During the detention, they ran into a strange figure in the Forbidden Forest, never actually finding out what it is.
During his second year, things finally became more interesting for him. His father bought the whole Sytherin Quidditch team new brooms, likely the only reason why he was made the new Seeker. Still, he finally had something new to boast about, and wasted no time in doing just that. However, he ended up losing to Potter.
After calling Hermione a 'mudblood', he even got the pleasure of watching Ron Weasley spit up slugs when his spell backfired.
What made that year the most interested, though, was the rumours that a secret chamber known as the Chamber of Secrets had been opened. Upon dueling Harry in the recently started Dueling Club, he found out that his rival could speak to snakes- making him the prime suspect of the rest of the students, but not Draco, whom thought it was laughable that Harry might be the heir to Slytherin. He wanted to find out who it was for himself, and possibly even help them.
Some creature was even going around and petrifying students- making Draco hope that Granger, conveniently a muggle-born, would be next.
As it turned out, it was Potter that saved the day yet again- must to Draco's disgust.
Another summer passed, and it was back to Hogwarts for the third year. On the train, they were raided by dementors- the guards of the wizard prison, Azkaban, which sucked the very happiness right out of the air. He was terrified, running into the compartment with the Weasley twins, Fred and George, and apparently almost wetting himself. He did arrive in one piece, thankfully.
This year wasn't favourable, as it happened. Not only did Hagrid get appointed to a teaching post, but he had also made them get biting books. On top of that, Draco was attacked by a Hippogriff in his first class (though it was his own fault for being rude to it). Milking the injury for all it was worth, he was able to use it as a form of leverage.
He was able to get Ron Weasley to do all of his work, angering and humiliating him, as well as getting Hagrid and the Hippogriff, Buckbeak, into trouble with the Ministry of Magic. What he hadn't planned on what Buckbeak escaping. So ended another year at Hogwarts.
The fourth one ended up quite interesting, not only for Draco, but for the school as a whole. Hogwarts was to host the Tri-Wizard Tournament- a prestigious, yet very dangerous, event. Much to his disdain, Potter somehow got in, even despite not being of age.
He secretly fed a sneaky reporter named Rita Skeeter gossip about Harry, and even tried to hex him once. That one time resulted in the most embarrassing moment in his life. Alastor Moody, the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that year, decided that he would need a more creative punishment- transfiguring Draco into a Ferret and bouncing him around amidst a crowd of laughing students.
He was dubbed, "the amazing bouncing ferret", and would never forget it. Soon after, he attended the Yule Ball, going with a fellow Slytherin, Pansy Parkinson. The Tournament ended in tragedy with the death of Cedric Diggory, and the year ended.
Again, Draco returned to Hogwarts for his fifth year, now a prefect- and relishing every moment of it, unfairly abusing his powers at every chance he got. It wasn't long before he also became a member of the Inquisitorial Squad, led by the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge.
This, again, was not much of a success for Draco, as he was attacked by the very group- The DA, or, Dumbledore's Army- after catching them at practice and trying to hold them in Umbridge's office. Afterwards, a battle took place inside the Department of Mysteries, where his father was seen participating as a Death Eater.
His father was then arrested and sent to Azkaban, causing a lot of grief for his worried son. Draco, of course, blamed this on Potter, actually trying to attack him on the way home from school, but failing when the rest of the DA members came to Harry's defense.
It wasn't until his sixth year when things began to get very serious, though. Draco joined the Death Eaters himself, supposedly to replace his father- and boasting to his fellow Slytherins of a task he was given. Unbeknownst to them, this task was to assassinate Dumbledore, and unbeknownst to Draco himself, he was expected to fail as punishment to his father.
It was a stressful time, the safety of his family resting on his shoulders. To add to this, he was having trouble with the assassination- every attempt, from a cursed necklace to poison mead had failed. It wasn't until he discovered cabinets that could let the other Death Eaters in that he had any real success. Before he could finally kill Dumbledore, however, Draco met an unfortunate end during a magical accident, ending up in Template.
Sample Journal Entry:
Crabbe? Goyle? [Have a Draco stumbling out of the church, looking like he's just swallowed a lemon.] Never around when I need them, those two. I'll bet father won't be too pleased to hear about this one.
[Stops to look around, as though expecting them to get scared out of hiding.]
Big useless oafs- probably spending too much time around that Hagrid. It's the only way they can get any denser. Just goes to show that if you want anything done, you've got to do it on your own.
What is this, anyway, some sort of filthy muggle city? [Confidence slipping, so much for doing things on his own.] I'm sure that Granger'd fit in perfectly.
Or maybe that batty old headmaster thinks this is some sort of funny test. Wouldn't put it past him- it's no wonder he's the worst one Hogwarts has ever had. [Sneering as he looks around now.] I actually hope it is a test- maybe they'll finally sac him like they should've done years ago.
Sample Roleplay:
It really was some sort of muggle city. Draco wrinkled his nose in disgust, visibly avoiding any contact with the muggles, even as they passed him by on the streets. He had no idea what was going on, only aware that it wasn't a part of his plan-- the plan he had to hurry up with. There wasn't time to waste slinking around some filthy... place.
A sign nearby read 'Mark's Cafe', bittersweet smells wafting out from it. There was no way this was a dream- it was too real. Besides, he would have to rearrange his own memories if he had caught himself dreaming about wandering in a city like this. It was disgraceful.
The only silver lining he could think of was that Potter wasn't here. Famous Potter, adored by the whole wizarding world for having his head cut open. It was his fault Draco's father ended up in Azkaban. It was his fault that he would have to find some way back, else his father stay in Azkaban.
If there was one thing Draco wasn't about to forget, it was those dementors. The only problem was finding the way back-- nothing seemed to work. No portkeys, no apparating (despite him being new at it regardless), not even the fainest sign of the Minstry, or anything magical, really.
Not a drop of magic to be found, muggles as far as the eye can see, those strange traveling devices zipping up the roads...
He sneered. Here was a waste of a city, if he'd ever saw one.
