Help! Does anyone have any cell phone advice for me?

Update: Thank you for all the advice. Though I did spend a little time drooling over the Chocolate 3, which is a lot like a Razr (I think), I finally decided on the enV2. Thanks, Mel, for putting me onto it -- I'm not sure I would have considered it if you hadn't. I am getting the red one, though, so we'd better keep a close eye on them at gaming :)

My parents still pay for my phone (at least until the wedding), and we’re about to renew our plan, so… I get a new phone! But they’re thinking they want to order them over the internet, and they want me to just tell them what phone I want. I’m a little befuddled. Any advice or thoughts or recommendations would be welcome, whether it be specific models or brands or features I should avoid or anything. Following are pertinent facts:

I’m paying the balance between the contract renewal rebate and the cost of the phone myself, so I don’t want anything really expensive. I don’t use my phone for much other than calling, texting, and the occasional impromptu photo, so I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles, but I would like it to be made of solid materials (no cheap plastic shell).

I like Motorolas because I know how to use them. I lean toward flip phones. I’m not married to either, but that’s kind of what I’m picturing.

The only thing that I absolutely insist on is that it have real buttons that have to be pushed. Mark has the original Chocolate with touch buttons, and I despise it with a burning passion. I will not have touch buttons.

Oh, and we’re on Verizon, so the iPhone is out.

I was sort of looking at the Moto (because come on, it comes in purple), but all the reviews I’ve read are bad, and it has touch buttons on the front that control the MP3 player. I have this picture of tossing it in my purse and having it suddenly blast out “Do You Hear the People Sing?” in the middle of a meeting. But if anybody knows anything about this phone, positive or negative, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks for any help you might give!
