4 [Accidental Video]

[Tom has his sleeves rolled up and has a bucket near him, though somehow, he still manages to look impeccable as he always does, stooping down near a tidepool on the beach. He is not wearing a swimsuit -- he would never own something so undignified -- and he appears to be completely alone ( Read more... )

totally not evil, knowledge is power, !event: surf's up: redux, tom can make friends, snakes get along with me, simply an academic, the heir of slytherin, the tiniest hint of normalcy

[The response comes at least ten minutes later -- Tom is rolling down his sleeves, looking almost pleased.]

Draco.

Having fun at the beach?

[A hint of laughter in his tone.]

It's a bit too hot for my taste.

I almost think I prefer winter.

It's boiling. I've been staying inside and keeping the air a little cooler.

I have been, too, but I decided to see what the fuss was about.

It isn't every day that a beach appears in a desert.

I suppose not. The animus are at least... talented, if not dangerous.

[Staring at the background behind Tom curiously.]

Extraordinarily so. I've never seen anything like it.

[His eyes flicker.]

What is it?

Nothing. I've just- never seen a place like that before.

You're more than welcome to join, if you're bored.

[x,y]

[Though the last time Tom invited some kids to the beach, he tortured them. But he'll play nice today.]

...you know- I might.

[He totally will. Draco cuts the feed and is navigating his way across the sands half an hour later, similarly dressed in dark pants and a collared shirt. Dark wizards are too cool for sunbathing.]

[Tom is much the same, though he has at least rolled up his sleeves. Being from a different time period leads him to just... not want to go to the beach where everyone has apparently decided to not wear clothes.

Also, he's Voldemort. Ew.

Tom has stood up by the time Draco is there and he holds up a finger to warn Draco to slow down. He has a snake before him, curled on the rocks. He is stock still.]

Don't move or startle it.

[Draco goes quiet, slowing down immediately and staring toward the creature. His first instinct is to back away and just leave, but he manages to stick around and watches the snake apprehensively.

It's always snakes, isn't it?]

Is it poisonous?

Yes.

[Tom watches it carefully for a moment, his eyes dark. The snake stares at him for a moment before sliding back into the pool, placated and calm.

He pauses for a moment.]

You can come closer now. It won't strike.

Are you sure about that?

[Watching where it had left, chin tilted up a little.]

[Tom laughs lightly to himself, not at the question, really, but at the absurdity of the notion -- of course the snake would never attack Tom, but Draco doesn't know why. The Heir of Slytherin is the last person to be attacked by a snake, after all.

He waves a hand dismissively in response to the question before starting on something entirely new.]

I'm going to take it home with me. The venom could be useful and modified in potion-making. [He glances down at the pool for a moment.] We have to make do with what we have, after all.
