Kaname Kuran

How does Kaname affect humans?

I have told some of the players that I’ve interacted with this, and given them the option for their character to be affected by it or not be affected by it. If your character is human, there is a VERY strong possibility that she, and even some men, will feel a powerful inclination towards being enamored with Kaname. For some, it will just be that you cannot look away from him when he is in your presence, for others it will be an unexplainable appreciation, and for a few, especially teenaged girls, it will be adoration.

Your character doesn’t have to think incessantly about him when he’s not around, nor do they have to fall head over heels and propose to him, but most humans feel drawn to him, regardless of what their gender is. Just something to keep in mind.

What kind of vampire is he?

Well, if you haven’t read his profile or his screen name, then you probably wouldn’t know that he is a pureblood vampire. What does this mean? It means that he is one of the most powerful entities in his world and arguably more powerful than most of the people/creatures/things in Somarium. He can control all of the elements, nature, manipulate a person’s mind and read it. Hino-sensei hasn’t really expanded on how well he can do any of this, so (as his writer) I of course have to use my imagination a little. He doesn’t have to drink as much blood as lower level vampires because he is of pure blood. There are very few families left that have this type of blood, and it is believed that Kaname is centuries old, being one of the first Kuran’s in his bloodline.

Below Kaname is the Noble Class, or B Class, and their powers are generally specialized, meaning they have a knack for one particular fighting style such as fire, ice, wind, etc. They are also very strong and are highly regarded.

And then there is the C Class, which is made up of normal vampires who are not as high-profiled as nobles or purebloods. Their powers aren’t nearly as impressive either. Still, any vampire that is Level C or higher CANNOT fall to a lower class.

Below that is Level D. D are vampires that are nearing the critical stage of bloodthirsty and dangerous to humans. Not that Level B or C do not wish to drink blood from humans, but a Level D will have much more trouble controlling those urges. If they do not drink blood regularly and in larger quantities OR they do not drink the blood of someone that is higher up in the hierarchy (which will sustain the hunger for a lot longer), then they eventually fall to the next level.

Level E are the vampires of horror stories. They do not have any human emotion left and they are otherwise perceived as dangerous to not only humans, but also vampires. All they can think about is blood. Thankfully, they are much weaker than the noble class or purebloods, so they are easily killed.

Throughout the years, a peaceful period between humans (who don’t know about vampires existing, except for a select few) and vampires has been created. Vampires are not supposed to hunt or drink from humans, though some who rebel against the idea of peace do. Instead, they use blood tablets, which dilutes in water and tastes just like blood. The flavor isn’t as nice as a human and there is still the craving to drink from a warm body, but it is something that Kaname practices and expects his followers to practice as well. So, he won’t be biting any unsuspecting Somariums - no worries.

Well, that is… unless they have delicious blood. :D

Can he be killed?

Not likely. Someone would have to remove his head or stab him through the heart, which is more difficult than it sounds, given his speed and strength. He can be weakened by anti-vampire weapons. There are only two currently in Somarium and they are in the possession of Yuuki and Zero. So, normal guns, swords, knives, Noctaere. Even if they manage to touch him, he will heal fairly quickly.

What happens if he bites you?

This is interesting. If a human is bitten by a vampire in the noble class or lower, they are not affected by the bite except for experiencing a bit of blood loss and possibly becoming anemic. However, if a human is bitten by a pureblood vampire then they will either die or become a vampire as well. This sounds exciting though, not the dying part >.>, right!? Wrong. If a human is turns into a vampire, they will slowly digress in a downward spiral until they finally become a Level E vampire. Kaname could very well choose a pet if he wanted and keep that vampire in a healthy state of mind by offering his blood every so often, but the likelihood of him doing that is slim to none. He is very picky about who he lets drink his blood, and in fact, only spills it if it correlates with Yuuki’s safety.

If anyone is interested in making their character a vampire, it would require A LOT of planning. I can't promise anything since it's not really his gimmick and I doubt anyone would want to alter their character’s living style so drastically, but if (for some reason) that is your wish, come talk to me. They would obviously be a lot stronger than normal humans and their sensitivity would increase greatly.

Can he fall for someone other than Yuuki?

Probably not. Unless he lived for a long time in Somarium without her. He might be fine with having lovers to pass the time, but it would take a lot to remove the layers of obsession this man has for her.

Hmmm… we can hit him over the skull and give him amnesia though. XD

*Also - Mods, if any of this needs to change for the purposes of Somarium, please let me know. :) Thanks!*
