So muggins here and parents went to the Isle of Wight yesterday, because Dad had to go and see a client and Mum and I decided to tag along to visit my cousin who lives there. Parents had booked into a hotel, and I was staying at my cousin's place.
So off we drove, stopping in Portsmouth to pick up some documents from another of Dad's clients (this was a MIRACLE because we were driving around in the vain hope that we would find his dental business - Dad had forgotten to look up where we were supposed to go - and I spotted a dental surgery out of the corner of my eye, and IT WAS THE RIGHT ONE!), had fish and chips for lunch, hopped on the ferry, crossed over, found the hotel, had a nap at the hotel and went off to a wonderful pub called the Crab and Lobster to have dinner with my cousin.
It was all very tasty, starters went down well, we were chatting away, main courses came, and I was eating a delicious seabass, when suddenly I realised I hadn't been careful enough AND THERE WAS A FISHBONE STUCK IN MY THROAT!
So after waiting for an hour and a half in the pub to see if it would dislodge, I was hauled off to Newport A&E, which turned out to be MUCH nicer than Nottingham A&E, with comfy sofas and no dreadful reality tv, and much reduced waiting times - I was in and out in under an hour! Fortunately it apparently was only a scratch, but I was advised to drink Coca Cola so that if it was still there, it would dissolve ('HAH!' said my cousin, who had advised this, 'NOOOO!' said Dad, who has a vendetta against coke for some reason), but we couldn't find anywhere open to buy coke on the way back to my cousin's house and when I woke up this morning, my throat was all better.
I am SO ACCIDENT PRONE!
