Unfortunately, the vast majority of people do not respond to dry facts and scientific data. To understand something like this they need colourful documentries and pretty line graphs. And, they need a whole bunch of charismatic trustworthy figures jumping up and down and kicking them in the butt. Images of Mt Kilimanjaro's snow receeding are exactly the kind of crap environmentalists need to get people aware and active.

You can't blame Al Gore for sloppy referencing and drawing poorly backed up conclusions. The majority of people out there haven't been to uni. What this film has done is woken people up, and got them involved.

I'd love to watch both films. I'll get copies on Tuesday.

It is interesting to look into the background of such documentaries when this is an obvious skewing from the expected norm. I find the the apparent links of Martin Durkin with the former RCP quite intriguing. The short bit of research I did leaves me with a taste in my mouth, he comes across in much the same way we often see Michael Moore as anti-establishment, but rather, anti-environmentalist and pro libertarian.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, but he also has a proven track record of distorting and manipulating the truth in his docos.

Like you say, it good to be informed ;)

hmm, intresting thing about the doco is that it is actually anti the communist hard core, which it blames for the enviromental movements anti corp atitude..

yeah, the main producer of the doc is a bit of a dodgy guy, and there is a lot of bad/old info in the show, but it still raises a few intresting points ( ... )
