We left Dhaka yesterday afternoon. It was crazy, figuring out how to pack the trophy and who could carry it (thank you, TJ!) early in the morning before we ourselves checked out and headed home. Got through to KL - slept on molded plastic chairs all night in true refugee-ish fashion, slightly pathetic. Finally got through to Bangkok, where we dropped our bags, showered, and went to shop.
After a couple of hours at MBK, headed home to rest and relax. Probably the best part was getting picked up by TJ (and getting trophy back) and driven around town. Am supremely thankful for TJ's generosity - picking up the tab for dinner and drinks for the five of us. Really huge Thai dinner at a nice place by the river, with 11 dishes of assorted seafood cooked Thai style. There was no way we could finish all of it, which showed his crazy idea of ordering food. Afterwards, he sped us out of there to the Dome at lebua and had some drinks at Sky.
(Okay, was also wowed by the awesome car he was driving - we were hitting 200 smoothly and without a sound on the skyway....)
Just got home, with enough time to sleep and relax before we head out again tomorrow. I'm supremely tempted to change my ticket and spend a couple of extra days here, especially since I don't even get to see my mother while I'm here. Hmm...
But wait, wait, wait, backtrack.
Thank yous go first and foremost to Steph and Shivs - a really good set of teammates that I'm glad I was able to experience. We balanced each other out and didn't spread the stress, and that was a good recipe for success. Thanks also go to Biscoch, who might not have been there but seemed to push me along to do my best for my team in the way that he did for me in all the tournaments that we'd been together. Thanks go to Sharmila, who was so supportive, all the adjs and the debaters of the contingent. Thank you to everyone who supported us, at any point in time (including the DLSU, UPM, or UPD faces I'd see nodding in the crowd once in a while).
There is no way this org is going down, not at all while I have anything to say about it :)
Time for a shout, we won!
