Praised be to the technology gods... I managed to get Internet at home here in Sri Lanka for the one month duration that I'll be here. I'm so extremely relieved.
May not be as fast as the speeds I'm used to back in S'pore, but I'm sure as hell not complaining because it really is better than nothing. Of course I owe a HUGE "thank you" to Sid for helping me find out about the gadget and the Uni student promo on top of it. You are awesomeness, girl!
So... Issue #2 was the Grad cock up. I checked uni email as soon as I got 'net connected, and there was no response. Thank the deities of education however, because I went back to the Grad list page again, to check on a hunch, and my ID number was there... XD
Now I can celebrate Christmas without worrying. Phew!
Flight yesterday... well the only highlight was that we got upgraded to Business Class, cos the flight was too full - which meant comfier seats and more leg room. I'd like to say the food was great, but I only nibbled a little bit and gave the rest to the 'rents. I just do not like flying, and to top it off, all the worry I had back then about lack of 'net and the Grad screw up totally killed what little appetite I had left.
And oh yeah... I had kaya toast before that...
Anyways... a slightly bumpy ride later we touched down. Sheesh... mother overpacked and we ended up with 9 hand-luggage bags between the three of us - dont ask... Crowded airport, noisy arrival hall... dad got careless and banged the trolley into the back of my heel =__=; ... stupid traffic jams at military checkpoints (civil war, go figure) at 2 in the morning... like WTF?!
Finally slept at 3am... but body clock being such, I only managed about five hours of sleep before waking up at 7.30am local time (or 10am S'pore time) and now I'm so damn tired.
Played the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End official PC game for most of the day (omg! Jo gaming, what madness is this?!) and it's really really fun. I can see how gaming can start to get addictive - you just want to keep moving to the next level and the next... But hey, original movie cast voicing the various game characters (yes, Depp's Jack Sparrow) doesnt get cooler than hearing all the Jack-isms while playing as Captain Sparrow.
He's one of the better characters to use in the game, followed by perhaps Barbossa. Will is... meh... and Elizabeth is absolute rubbish, so weak. All you expert gamers may find it on the mediocre side, but for someone like me who rarely games, I'm finding it alot of fun (okay, so Jack has alot to do with the fun bit), and it does help to while away the time.
Bloody hell, I'm so damn tired...
