I finally caved and found the time to watch The Lion King today.
Steeljaw was thrilled, it being his favorite movie and all, hehe *skritches him*. You are a sneaky little feline, Steely, but you're also quite adorable and very lovable hence my letting you get away with alot of things the rest of the headspace, not even Jazz, can get away with.
Case in point...
Went shopping on Saturday evening with the 'rents, to look for a formal dress to wear at my cousin's wedding in Aust come March. I was not going to buy black. Resolutely was NOT even going to LOOK at black. I already have a black dress dress that I bought about four years ago that I've now grown out of, and knowing the people I know who'll be at that wedding, at least half of them will turn up in black as well. So yeah, no black.
I was hoping to come away with a blue, preferably a darker shade of blue like cobalt or navy, or at the very least a deep purple, and walked around the entire second level of OG looking for one. We checked out Robinsons and a couple of other shops at Centerpoint, but none of the dresses there looked really appealing and they came with a price tag of $300 and over... heh... no frickin' way.
YJ suggested I check out the dresses at OG by local designer Daniel Yam. Did so, and checked out the blues and the purples... not too bad... but couldn't really find anything that 'called' to me... too shiny, too plain, too flamboyant, etc... And then I saw this little champagne gold number...
Now, I've usually steered away from the warm range of the color spectrum. Dont really like reds and oranges, though I dont mind browns or pale yellows, but I've never thought about wearing gold before... yeah, I usually like sticking with my safe, cool colors like blue and purple. This one was a very pale, floor-length, strapless champagne gold with subtle white-silver undertones that are kinda there-but-not-there, and has this diagonal pattern going across it.
I thought 'oh what the hell, I'll just try it on for kicks and see how it looks'. So I did and... it looked rather good, if I do say so myself. What's more, it was on sale for $70 (Usual Price: $170). Yeah, bought it, and a pair of shoes to go with it, all for around $100 which was quite a good deal I think.
Hehe, it was only on the way home that I started to ask myself, how the hell did I end up with champagne gold when I originally wanted to get a blue? Then I remembered the sneaky little golden lion I have in my headspace... Yeah Steeljaw, no influence from you, I'm sure.
