[Part 2]A newspaper was slammed against the yokai’s bed as the headlines of the front cover were written about the mysterious sakura flowers that were randomly blooming in the middle of the summer. Sho flinched and touched his messy bed hair nervously when he saw the front page as Satoshi continued to glare at his uncle slamming more newspaper from different publishing companies with the same headlines. “Something good must have happened yesterday night Uncle. The middle of this overheating summer, sakura flowers blooming and in just one night.” Satoshi snarled gritting his teeth as he spoke in a dangerously low voice as the yokai was biting his lips, cowering. “And they have bloomed beautifully so to speak..Uncle..” “Rain can be explained as a change of weather, but what are you going to do about the flowers?! You drank didn’t you?” Satoshi interrogated. “You dare talk down on your uncle? Should we just be brothers instead?” Sho tried to argue, as he felt himself slurring on his words, still hung over, which made him far from convincing. “Shall we? Alright Aniki (older brother), who were you with last night?” Satoshi counter argued. “HOW DARE YO-“ “YOU DON’T REMEMBER, DO YOU?!” Satoshi snapped, immediately causing Sho to freeze. “Seriously Uncle what will you do? I can’t cover this and neither can the company!” Satoshi complained, waving his hands in frustrations. “It was the medicine mixed with the alcohol that has brought me to such a state. I shall halt talking such manmade medications so do not worry.” “Why are you suddenly speaking in that tone?” “I do not know either…” Sho blushed as he unconsciously spoke in his old dialect from when he was still the general ---- The two have entered a restaurant hoping that some food can help the yokai sober up a bit. The waitress had showed them to their seat as the yokai grumbled seeing the reaper with his hat on, which meant that he was invisible to the human. “What are you doing here?” Sho asked, causing Satoshi to look warily at the empty seat next to him. “I was in the middle of work but I realized that my drama is on now. I’m taking a short break. It’s the climax of this drama I can’t miss it.” Reaper smirked as he pointed towards the restaurant’s 70 inch T.V that was right across from them. The female lead was gazing into the large fish tank as she was seeing the little fish eggs hatch, not noticing the president gazing at her lovingly. The young heir and the reaper were watching the drama intensely as Sho tried to remember the events of last night ignoring his food order that was just placed at the table by the waitress. “Satoshi…did you ask me about a sword yesterday?” Sho asked, as Satoshi shook his head giving his full attention to the drama. “Don’t just brush it off. Think hard.” “Uncle trying sobering up first maybe you’ll remember something.” Satoshi sighed as he took a bite out of his ramen that he had ordered. “You blacked out? Over measly beer?” The reaper chuckled. “It wasn’t the alcohol but the medicine!” Sho fought back, causing Satoshi to flinch and to look again at the empty seat next to him. “What’s wrong with you Uncle..Is something there?” Satoshi quavered, scooting over his chair. “I love you.” The male lead finally confessed shocking the female lead. “OH MY GOD!” Both the reaper and the young heir exclaimed both turning their heads towards the T.V, as the females in the restaurant were kyaaing at the confession. After finishing and paying for their meal Sho exited the restaurant first with his finger rubbing his temples hoping that it would trigger something from last night. “Uncle did the food make you feel better?” Satoshi asked, as the yokai shook his head looking around the surrounding building. He suddenly saw the fast food burger shop and immediately events from last night were flashing before his eyes, causing him to scream in fright. “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!” “Were just realizing how climatic it was when Samejima Reiji finally confessed to Misaki?” The reaper finally came out. “A-are you finally remembering something uncle?” “And if I don’t want to be your “bride?” What happens then?” “Well the sword can’t be pulled out…because you’re the only one who can. I have to get this sword out to…to...to-to be even more handsome.” Sho lied. Sho screamed again panicking in circles, pulling out his hair. “Crazy yokai!! What do I do? What do I do?” Sho screamed standing in front of the reaper. “What? What is it?” Satoshi asked again. “I told her about removing the sword.” Sho admitted, earning the tsk from the reaper. “Uh….Uncle where are you looking at?? I’m right here.” Satoshi waved his hands being completely ignored by the yokai. “Think positively about this. You lived long enough.” The reaper tried to cheer, smirking at the state the yokai was in. Who knew he had such a sadistic side. “Keeping talking like that and I’ll set your hat on fire!” Sho threatened as people began to look at the scene the yokai was causing, as Satoshi covered his hands in embarrassment at his uncle’s crazy antics. Our family just had to serve this yokai for generations…I wondered how my ancestors survived… ------- “Ma-kun why are ya shopping again? Thought ya went just da other day.” A man with a heavy Osaka accent complained as he was sitting in front of the changing room waiting for his friend to come out. “I need to look fashionable.” Aiba smiled, as he came out of the changing room and started twirling around for his friend to see. “Hmmmm not bad..ya got a boyfriend or sometin’??” His friend asked, already knowing his best friend’s orientation. “I’m making myself look nice and waiting for a call to get one. But unfortunately, he’s not calling me.” Aiba pouted as he was gathering more clothes to try on. “Why is that?” Aiba asked. “Maybe itz cause he’s playin hard to get?” His friends shrugged, causing Aiba to pout more. After shopping Aiba headed for his family restaurant to finish up Nino’s training. He had been distracted all day, constantly staring at his phone hoping that a certain man would call. And as soon as the shift was over, it was just the two of them sitting at the table by the window, with Aiba staring towards the street as the people were walking by. “Aiba-chan lately you’ve been looking out the window more. Is there something outside?” Nino asked not understand what he was supposing to be seeing that had his friend’s full undivided attention. “I’m waiting..” “For what?” “For someone.” Aiba answered nonchantly, as he continued staring at the window. “A customer?” Nino asked, tilting his head. “No. My new found love.” Aiba smiled turning his head towards Nino, causing Nino to chuckle. “Like Prince charming on a white horse?” Nino smiled. “Too young. I’d prefer a king actually.” Aiba admitted earning another chuckle from Nino. --- The next day..
In the cafeteria Nino had sat alone in his usual corner and ate peacefully with his headphone to mute out the people, as he also stared at the business card he was handed from the president. Ohno Kaoru President and Chairmen of Ohno Industries. Nino had remembered the grave sights he had visited with Sho during his little mishap trip to New York and remembered that the names of the tombstone all had the surname of Ohno. He suddenly felt the card taken from his hands as he took off his headphone and saw two upperclassmen looking at the business cards. “What’s this? Did you find it somewhere ghost boy?” The first upperclassmen mocked. “He gave it to me, so give it back.” Nino glared. “Bullshit…why would such a rich man waste his time with you? You probably asked one of your ghost friends to get right freak?” The other older male mocked, unknowing that someone was slipping a cigarette in his hands. “Tell me you were fucking that old dude right? For money? I mean there are rumor that you were gay but more than that you’re just a man whore aren’t you?” The first upperclassmen continued as he unconsciously brought the cigarette to his mouth, causing his other friend to freeze at the sight. “What the fuck are you looking!” He growled, as he noticed it in his hands and immediately dropped it. “What the fuck was that, how did it get there in my hands?” He shrieked, as a professor walking by observed the whole thing. “You damn students don’t you know it’s forbidden to smoke in campus, come with me I’m going to have to talk to your RA to make sure your dorms don’t have any cigarettes?!” He yelled grabbing the two students and dragging them towards the dorm building. Not knowing what just happened Nino picked up the card and saw the young spirit waving at him, the one that was with him when he was laminating the clover. Nino waved back and smiled, thanking the spirit. “Thanks from before Haru-chan. You really saved me there.” He thanked the spirit as they both were heading towards the main gate of the campus. “Don’t mention it. I just couldn’t stand to let them treat you like that.” The young spirit smiled. “I have a question though…..how come you’re the only spirit not asking me for anything. I mean don’t get me wrong you’re awesome. It’s just that most spirit I met never leave me alone always trying to get me to do something for them. You’re the first one to ever treat me…like an actual person, and not a genie of some sort.” Nino questioned. “Well let’s just say just being friends like this is enough.” She smiled, as she suddenly froze and hid behind Nino. “Well looks like I have to go…your husband is here and he’s too scary for me.” She whined as she disappeared, causing Nino to turn and see Sho wearing his sunglasses driving up the campus parking lot.
“I thought you said you don’t need or use cars.” Nino smirked, observing the brand new car from top to bottom. “Just wanted to show off a bit that’s all.” Sho answered honestly earning a chuckle from the student. “Well can I ask where you’ll be taking me?” Nino asked as he hopped on the passenger’s seat. “It’s a surprise.” Sho teased. After driving for about 10-15 minutes Sho had parked the car in front of his house and got out of the car first to open the door for Nino. “What the heck..it’s just your place.” Nino grunted, as he got out of the car, only to have the sun suddenly disappear and see numerous skyscrapers that weren’t there appear out of nowhere “We…we’re in New York again?” Nino gleamed, immediately getting excited. “It’s an apology for acting like a weird drunk last night.” Sho smiled, as he lead them to a restaurant he had specifically reserved. “So is this our official honeymoon?” Nino playfully asked, “Get in let’s go back.” Sho refuted opening the car. “I’m sorry I’m sorry. Let’s just go.” Nino apologized as he followed Sho downs the streets to their destination. -- “Itadakimasu.” Nino prayed as he dug into his medium rare steak. “Hey…don’t take this the wrong way..” SHo started catiously, as Nino continued eating his meal. “I’m just curious…can you tell me what the handle of this sword looks like?” Sho asked, as Nino squinted his eyes in suspicion. “Are you seriously doubting me?” Nino growled, stabbing the meat with his knife causing the yokai to flinch. “There’s no need to be upset. I thought it’d be crystal clear about things like this.” Sho clarified, hoping it would calm Nino down. “That’s exactly what doubting is…baka.” Nino pouted, continuing to dangerous stab his steak. “But just to ease your doubt the handle has a tiger on it. The white tiger.” He answered correctly. “That’s…right..” Sho sighed. “By the way I did some research on you, but nowhere does it mentions a sword..Who did that to you if you don’t mind me asking?” Nino questioned this time. “Someone who I thought would not do such a thing did it.” Sho answered nonchantly. “Oh….I see..It’s a tragic story I’m sorry I asked.” Nino gulped his steaked, apologizing. “Then let’s change it. How old are you?” “I’m 949 years old.” “Oh that’s even more tragic…I’m sorry…again.” Nino apologized again. “But still it must be nice to live long, you don’t age and you’re wealthy.” Nino started hoping to steer the conversation into a more positive light. “You want to live long, even it means you’ll be the only one stuck in time?” Sho asked, seriously. “But I’ll have you.” Nino answered almost immediately, causing Sho’s heart to skip a beat. “You’ll be by my side right? Then I won’t mind living forever.” Sho couldn’t help but smile a little at that statement, but immediately shaking any thought of that as he began eating his meat. After they both finished they both decided to walk around central park at night where not a lot of people were to have a little privacy. “I’m actually surprised that for someone with…a not happy past, you’re still cheerful.” Nino began. “I had almost 1000 years. I can’t be sad that long, I’m just a yokai who accepted his fate. Just like you have to think seriously about yours.” Sho answered seriously. “Think about what?” “You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to being the yokai’s bride. I’m not gonna force you or anything.” Sho tried to persuade. “Tell me honestly..what’s on your mind? I’m starting to think that you really don’t want me to be your bride…I mean your groom.” Nino glared. “Am I not good enough for you? Or is there someone else?” Nino continued, as he soon turned his head towards the sword. “Let’s see. See the sword check. Draw the sword….check.” Nino spoke dangerously as he sprang forward for the sword as Sho immediately dodged it. “Let’s be done with this and make you a handsome man.” Nino laughed as he started chasing the frighten yokai around the park. Soon both started laughing, running around the park with no care in the world until they both had stopped panting for air. “You know….for a man that’s almost a thousand years old you sure are in pretty good shape.” Nino panted earning a chuckle from the yokai. “Hey I just had that much to practice.” Sho answered, as he tried to sit down on the ground only to lose his footing and taking Nino down with him. “Ouch…” Nino winced as he tried to get his bearing and stop when he saw the yokai’s eyes staring straight at him. Time had stopped for the both of them as they held unto their breath being drawn to each other’s eyes. And before the yokai had realized what he was doing he cupped Nino’s face and slowly brought their lips together, initially shocking Nino before he closed his eyes and shly returned the kiss.
