Jake would be lying if he pretended he hadn't noticed Caroline's scent when he set off into the preserve that afternoon. Still, it wasn't like he could avoid the place just because she was there. He'd simply stay clear of it. If he didn't want her to find him, she wouldn't. That much was obvious after her one stalking week.

He was already setting off towards the other side when he noticed something strange about the scent and he couldn't quite help his detour. It wasn't too hard to find the source of the scent and the quiet whuff as he moved from the trees was obviously him laughing his ass off.

Oh please, it wasn't like she could mask her scent, especially now that she was licking her chops after a little encounter with the deer. Hey, maybe there was something to be said for extra sharp teeth.

Spotting the giant freaking wolf and hearing his stupid laughing whuff, she bared those teeth and growled. He was clearly a jerk.

Probably, but there was something very uncomplicated about this that had him not turning his back and running off. Possibly it was just the chance to mock her.

He lowered his head, baring his teeth with a low growl. Did she really want to compare because he won this competition.

It was an unfair advantage! He was a giant and she was some tiny baby coyote.

Still, she snorted and backed down, knowing she had no change with the way he towered over her.
