Ahhhh, Christmas has come and gone, and I have survived another season of gifts, cheer, awkward familial contact, and feasting on food that should only be legal in small quantities (because no one should ever cook with 3 quarts of coconut milk at once). Actually, other than waking up to find that small scratchy demons had taken up residence in my throat, my Christmas was uncharacteristically awesome. I gots me some great swag, predominantly the usual stuff of clothes, spiffy books, and a big ass blanket - but I also got a CD of Anne Waldman reciting some of her poetry that Aileen dug up from somewheres, and three Frank Zappa albums - muhahaha.
And three vegan cookbooks: Vegan with a Vengeance, Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, and The Veganomicon (I <3 Isa & Terry). These books are going to destroy any chance I have of staying in shape if I don't start exercising.
The Veganomicon totally makes me want to write a vegan baking book called Evil Bread... Though to drive in the joke a little more I'd like to push the spoof just a bit farther and do something with 'Army of Darkness' but so far nothing I've come up with sounds quite right - 'Pastries of Darkness' comes close, as does 'Army of Biscuits' however they both seem a bit misleading if the book were to be predominantly about bread.
Suggestions are welcome, the winner will be chosen from amongst those entries that make me pee my pants the most.
Anyhoo, my Day of Present Massacre was fab, hope yours was too.
In Other News:
I had an enjoyable 30+ minute conversation with my dad, something that I'm not sure I've done for over 15 years. Not to sound sappy, but I think that's what made the day so freaking awesome.
